What do you think?

What do you think? We went to Cottesloe Beach last week to have lunch in the Indiana. I wanted to admire the view from these windows for perhaps the last time but we were too late, it is closed! You can read the history of the Indiana here, there are some gorgeous old black and white photos too. So here's the thing, have a look at the three proposed development options here, what do you think.. one two or three? Yes, I think the Indiana does need a little TLC, it does face directly into the many moods of the Indian Ocean after all.. my choice would obviously be the third, I cannot see one good reason to knock down one of Perth's picture postcard, iconic buildings admired around the world and replace it with something that if it is your preference can be found a few kms away along another popular beach. Then there are the Norfolk Island pines.. one hundred and sixty eight 18inch saplings planted over a hundred years ago, how many of them will go in the name of progress! None I hope if the locals exert people power one more time, fingers crossed. Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

  3. There can't be that many historic buildings in Perth, so surely it's not too much to ask to keep this beauty.

  4. I'm with you on this one, Grace! They should keep the old building!

  5. Keeping the old building is my choice too. I can't imagine tearing down such a gorgeous old building.

  6. Pretty snazzy and I am positive I could afford it, taxes on it, and or the upkeep.

  7. Oh no. That's terrible. Worse is the proposed modern development. While a little down at the heel, I thought that was part of its appeal and it was certainly busy enough the lunch time we ate there.

  8. This stately old building deserves to be renovated and serve many more generations. It is a lovely Victorian appearing beach building. Hope it is able to remain.

  15. Oh Grace, WHAT????

    What do I think, Grace?
2013. You picked us up - for real. We went to Cottesloe. To the Indiana.
You said you invited another bloggy-friend, if we would mind.
That "lady" said she´d lived in Germany once, too, a tiny town.
I said, "try me" and she said,...

The rest is history! I´ll never forget that, also you reminded me to take the cam when going to the loo.
    Took some pictures there :-)

And P last time, with the leaflet?

I also had one friend who lived there. She fell in love with Ingo and left me (yes, this happened).

They cannot close down the Indiana!!! What about The sculptures??? What about... it all? How, why, this is an ICON!
    Respect! The beauty!
I remember even the loos at the beach are awesome, you can watch the seagulls, hear the ocean extra-loud.

    Will you do something?
If you need "votes" we´re here!
    This is sad news.

I can not imagine Cottesloe without the Indiana.
    I can not.

  18. I vote for keeping the building as is and just renovating it. There aren't that many old buildings in Perth, we should save them.
