I don't know about you but I always find this theme the hardest of all! For me there are so many personal reasons that I like a particular photo. I was pleased with the shot above, original post here, because, being a bit shy, portrait photography isn't my thing, I plan to brave-up this year, also the conditions were super tricky. I'm thrilled to say la chanteuse pictured was as happy as I was with this series of images. The reflection below is probably one of my favourites because it was so unexpected, you can see why here.
The shot below, taken after Aimee had just abseiled down one of Perth's highest skyscrapers, check out post here, I was so proud of her, so brave but for such a wonderful cause.. very happy it's off her 'to do' list now :)
Below, the reason you haven't seen me for the last two weeks.. so much fun with my two delightful grandchildren, photo taken by Aimee! Out to the airport early this morning to see our Sydney famille fly off home, miss them already! Very much looking forward to seeing what you have been up to while I've been away.. another big year ahead, it's the challenges that make life interesting so they say.. some challenges are harder than others oui! Happy New Year, take care and stay safe..
A lovely portrait, Grace, and I understand the priority of your family. Glad you had a wonderful time with them. You shy? Hardly. Just give it a try, maybe at first with a friend, then start approaching interesting people. The worst you can get is "no."
ReplyDeleteNice photos Grace. Your Grandchildren are adorable. Portraits can be fun. Experiment with lighting and locations. Jack's advice with starting with friends and family works great. That's how I started in college way back in the stone age. (we had to chisel the images into stone tablets also)
ReplyDeleteAimee would make a fine firefighter. Abseiling buildings (and rock cliffs) was one of my favorite training routines.
Your grandkids are such cuties, Grace! Good choices for the theme.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Awesome pics :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a very Happy New Year 2017
Happy New Year Grace. I wish you luck with the portraits. I have a few contacts at flickr who are great street portrait shooters, they are from Perth and I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you tagged along one day!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all that's wonderful for the year ahead, Grace. Love that first photo!
ReplyDeleteTop shot

ReplyDeleteLove the portrait. I share your reluctance but am pushing myself out of the box, too. I tiptoe lightly into 2017 quite unsure of what's next on a number of fronts. In the meantime, Happy New Year!
