Home again!

Back safe and sound, and the good news is that I really didn't find the flying experience as nerve-wracking as usual, perhaps I'll even get to the stage where I don't have to pop a pill to board the plane :) It was brilliant to see my son and daughter-in-law and to be there to join in the fun of my granddaughters first birthday party. When in Sydney I cannot resist the beauty of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.. I've watched documentaries about the construction of the bridge and am in awe of the accomplishment. A few different angles here. As the chap above climbing the steps to begin the bridge walk turned and gave me a wave I couldn't help thinking.. I'm sure you can guess what I was thinking :)

For the first time I noticed there were a handful of locks along the bridge walk, one in particular was very moving. Aimee has details over on her post today..

I'm not sure why there was an octopus in Darling Harbour, guess it came up with the sub :)

Our hotel was just five minutes from Darling Harbour and look what I found on the way to breakfast one morning.. a portrait of Jack Mundey by Portuguese artist Vhils, j'adore his work so was pretty thrilled by this discovery..

The main reason I brave the flight twice a year, such a gorgeous wee girl. Here with Aunty Aimee looking out over the waves at Bondi Beach, she was exhilarated by the wind, it was pretty chilly, blowing in her face. Looking forward to catching up with what you've been up to over the last week, happy Friday, take care and stay safe...p.s. sorry about the boring title, it's late :)

The octopus is odd... considering that sub looks military!

  10. Oh goodness, she is so very precious, and wow such beautiful photos. That bridge, oh my way high it would be so scary to look down from where he is! I'm happy you did well on both trips flying, you will master it yet!

  15. Your granddaughter is so adorable Grace! Glad you made it back alright. I'm starting to dread the flying I will be doing this summer, but not nearly as much as I usually do.

  16. She is just lovely. Walking soon, I expect. You seemed to be away for such a short time. The octopus is funny and what a find the Mundey portrait was.

  17. It's been 23 years since we visited Sydney, I think, but I sure remember walking across the bridge.

Beautiful, beautiful child. And I'm proud of your advanced flying skills. Now you're ready to come to North America.

  18. A cool series of your Sydney escapade Grace. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. The shots of the bridge are delightfully crisp and the ones with your grand daughter have just the right dash of depth of field. Thanks for sharing.

  21. Welcome home - what a cutie she is. I didn't realize that the bridge was quite so "industrial" while on it. I like it very much. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise given the overall design.

  31. Sydney traffic is a nightmare. I used to drive in it, many years ago and it was bad then. One way streets in the heart of the city are a challenge. The little has such a delightful expression on her face.

  33. Adorable shots of your little granddaughter! I have a feeling I would be thinking the exact same thing about the guy climbing the bridge. My friends Julie and Dave have done it.....twice! You won't catch me up there.
