It was a grey day in Perth yesterday, menacing clouds that were all show and no action! On the way to Fremantle to take some shots of the most amazing piece of new art (will I be able to wait until Monday to show you that is the question) we came across the super cool Bus Stop Cafe parked by the beach and seriously, is there ever a time not to stop for coffee, especially on a grey day!
Couldn't get the National Geographic telescope above to work so whipped out my trusty camera et long lens to see what was sitting out there on the horizon and look.. we have visitors. The USS Carl Vinson docked for a few days R&R.. hello sailor :) or should I say sailors, there are about 5000 of them! Watching the smaller vessels buzzing around the battleship made me think of the oxpecker birds on a hippo another large, grey and dangerous water body. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
Great coffee shop Grace!!
ReplyDeleteI love that bus stop cafe!! How cool is that!! Great shot of the ship, too! Hope your week is going well!! Looking forward to your next post!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a floating airport with all those helicopters and aircraft.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was great seeing that little piece of U. S. real estate off your shores. :-)
ReplyDeleteoh that bus is awesome!!! i've been on one of those big carriers a few times as a kid! my dad was retired navy and spent years on the kitty hawk!
ReplyDeleteThat ship is huge, Grace! Cool idea for a cafe.
ReplyDeleteBus stop cafe. Do they deliver?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great use for a bus!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a bus... The aircraft carrier is really huge!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shot of the ship out there. It must be kind of like Fleet Week in Perth right now with all those sailors looking for a good time. I love the bus café and now I'm wondering how long it will before one shows up here. That's a great idea.
ReplyDeleteQuite a conversion for a bus. And I do like the look of the battleship.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant time with you. Say, I think that ship was just here...... I might have sent you a parcel!
ReplyDeleteALOHA from Honolulu,

=^..^=
Love the bus stop cafe! And that is quite a zoom you have on your camera.
ReplyDeleteGood shot of the carrier Grace.
ReplyDeleteFood trucks are common and popular in the US these days but I've never seen a food bus. Imagine the opportunities.
ReplyDeleteNice to see some of my tax dollars at work in the bottom picture.
Did someone say Sailors? Love the bus.
ReplyDeleteDid you say 5000 sailors? Oh my.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Were the flamingos left over from Sculptures by the Sea? Did you hear the one about the sailor who jumped into a swimming pool from a 10th floor balcony?
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea for a cafe! I've booked my ticket for Perth... I feel it my obligation to help entertain the troops.
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity that it's not the other way around: buses still operating and aircraft carriers having to be used for other purposes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool bus-cafe, I would definitely stop there and enjoy the view- 5000 sailors might cause quite a queue though...
ReplyDeleteI first thought it was a busstop, but this bus turned into a cafe! Very clever. Well at least the warship is from a fiendly nation. But 5000 of them visiting your city, maybe a bit to much...
ReplyDeleteLove the Bus Stop Cafe! The are a lot of aircraft sitting on the deck of that carrier!
ReplyDeleteNow, this bus stop is quite unique.
ReplyDelete5,000 sailors???? Look out Perth!
What an idea to use a bus as a cafe :)
ReplyDeleteThat´s a cool café, Grace! In a great place, hope it´s still around next time we visit :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww. The vessel reminds me of Freo 1999, before 09/11 you were allowed to visit - and by chance we found the USS Constellation on her last journey and they were open to public!
We wanted to sell our car there (private car market on Sat) and hence I sadly had my cam in the cabin...
The things that you come across! ;.-)
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of good coffee in a bus at the beach!!!
Life's a beach...it sure is. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteThe Carl Vinson aircraft carrier was in San Diego while we were there in February. It does get around the world. Interesting photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat place to stop by for a coffee!!
ReplyDeleteCoffee is good any time of the night or day Grace.
