'Jumping the Shark'!
We drove to the inner city suburb of Victoria Park yesterday to find a new mural by Fieldey.. painted at the end of March as part of Form's PUBLIC 2015. On the side wall of The Good Store on Albany Highway this is another Fieldey spectacular, remember this one. The artist's inspiration for this piece came from the phrase 'jumping the shark' originally used in an episode of Happy Days. Definitely not craft:)
An unexpected and highly delightful bonus, as I moved around to take a different angle shot there it was on the back wall of the same building.. another James Giddy treasure, you saw him here last Monday, I was more than just a little happy with my double whammy! Also part of Public 2015 and painted at the same time, I imagine these two talented artists caused quite a stir on the streets of Vic. Park :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe.. p.s. only two more sleeps till I'm off to Sydney, yay.. and eek!

I'm liking the elephants very much. I think that Perth should be renamed Mural City - there seem to be so many!
ReplyDeleteWhat a double header that is, Grace! I love them both!
ReplyDeleteNow doesn't this look like fun. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love these colorful murals!! You do have the best ones!! Yep, maybe Perth should be renamed Mural City!! Hope you have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteI would really like murals like these on our walls!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely great!
ReplyDeleteA pin-up siren and a shark, how extraordinary! Love the elephant too!
ReplyDeleteAmazing murals. Can't decide which one I like better.

Verrrrrrrry Interesting! The elephant looks rather drunk. The first mural appears to be a Texas mermaid riding a Florida shark. Which is rather funny except for a story in the news here the past few days...certain waters off of our Atlantic coast are teeming with thousands of sharks! And there are always a bunch of dummies who get bitten. I don't swim in the ocean here anymore.
ReplyDeleteTalk about there being an elephant in the room! :-)

Impressive.
ReplyDeleteLove the shark...
ReplyDeleteTwo colorful murals that call for your attention. (Have fun in Sydney.)
ReplyDeleteA double whammy! Good ol Vic Park (I had a gallery there in the 80s)
ReplyDeleteYour post finally sent me to Wikipedia to understand what "jump the shark" really means. I now feel informed. The image is very funny with a sushi eating shark ridden by a 4-armed mermaid. But the elephants...Wow. Such a lucky find. Thanks, Grace, for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteWell now, that is a special treat. Both are fantastic! Such fun to find these.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we brought a resident from 100 years ago what the would think of today's street art, Grace. I suspect they would be shocked but impressed.
ReplyDeleteWow, Grace, especially the Fieldey-shark is amazing! So vibrant! The elephant is beautiful, too, but the shark, ... wow!
ReplyDeleteYes, flying isn´t fun - just have in mind whom you´ll see, right? :-)
Funny title!
ReplyDeleteI don't know which mural I prefer. They´re so different but so cool, both of them!
ReplyDeleteAmazing murals, I only see graffiti here at the moment.
ReplyDeletewOw!! very cool building!! the elephants are beauties...and jumping the shark is FUN!
ReplyDeleteI like them! I had read on facebook about the murals in Vic Park but haven't had much time or energy to go there yet. Enjoy your Sydney holiday.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Perth is an amazing place, methinks. Off to Sidney? Have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteNow this really is jumping the shark!
ReplyDeleteBoth murals are stunners!
ReplyDeleteOoh la la, a gorgeous and courageous mermaid !
