We spent most of yesterday morning on Hillary's Beach and park taking pictures of the first in a series of five triathlons in the 2012/13 Telstra Triathlon Series. Honestly I was totally exhausted just watching (and clicking), Aussies are such a darn enthusiastically sporty lot! They started off with a 720m swim, which for obvious reasons was my personal favourite section.. come on ladies who wouldn't appreciate the sight of many, muscly men in various stages of undress running towards them haha!
As one group of swimmers plunged in.....
...another swam in to shore, pulling off their wetsuits as they ran to claim their bikes for the 20km next stage of the triathlon. The majority of the 833 participants in the triathlon were under 50, but 80 were older including a man in his 70's, fantastic!! You might not believe it from today's shots, but it was a mixed race, there were women, I may have been a little distracted..tomorrow is another day! Hectic weekend, catch up tomorrow. Even though my weekend is over, hopefully you will still be enjoying yours, take care.....
Poor Grace, having do endure sunshine AND a beach full of hotties!
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed with the triathletes during the Olympics. Their fitness levels are unbelieveable!
ReplyDeleteI spent the morning with a pal drinking expresso. He wouldn't shut up! I'm exhausted.
ReplyDeleteYour 1st shot is ... how can I say?... soooooooo interesting!!! :o))
ReplyDeleteDoes this race has to do with the IronMan? We have a part of it here too.
Yep, I'm with Chrissy!! I feel SO sorry for you having to endure sunshine and such uh "scenery"???? Hope you have a very happy and Merry Christmas, Grace!!
ReplyDeleteThere's some big guys there! They will be suffering in the run for sure.
ReplyDeleteTough guy's
ReplyDeleteGood serie sport photo's..... well done.
Greetings, Joop
Nice photo, good job...:), how i love to be under the sun at the beach now.
ReplyDeleteWaouh Grace, j'ai justement besoin d'un garde du corps pour faire des photos dans un quartier chaud de Paris :)
ReplyDeleteBonne semaine !!!

I can definitely see the attraction.
ReplyDeleteNow this is how I'd like to spend Christmas. The whole idea of a "White Christmas" is highly overrated!
ReplyDeletePerth beach scenery is always so interesting.
ReplyDeleteNice sports shots, Grace. You would not find me doing a triathlon. I would be next to you clicking away.
ReplyDeleteThey look really fit. Bet they train for a long time just for this event.
ReplyDeleteYou know, to my American eyes they look Austrailian. Oy!
ReplyDeleteI would be with you and Jack, taking photos. These guys (no women in your shots? hehehe) look quite fit!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
FELICES PASCUAS.
ReplyDeleteSALUDOS Y ABRAZOS
A bit too much black for my liking, lol, not enough skin showing... ;-)But I'll tell you what, I would love a swim right now, it looks so enticing!
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough job but some-one has to do it Grace ..... All in the name of promoting your city and its many aspects ... Of course!
ReplyDeleteUna buena carrera..un beso desde Murcia...
ReplyDeleteA little distracted?!
ReplyDeleteI always thought expressions like "fun run" were oxymorons, but now I know better - I never thought about all the people watching through telescopic lenses :)
All I managed was a dip in the Lagoon - just floating around! No 'hunks' in my water. :(
ReplyDeleteYou make me laugh Grace.
ReplyDeleteIt is a crazy sport I think. We have the event here too each year, but your boys look far more attractive than the ones here. They are always very skinny.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I would have been distracted too! What a lovely group of guys!
ReplyDeleteGreat legs:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful where alike is happening.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Tuesday.
Another wonderful series of photographs. I guess we all came from the sea originally so it's only right we return there. :-) These athletes do a lot of extensive training to be able to compete in a triathlon. But where are all the females in their wet suits?
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Great series.
ReplyDeleteThey swim faster when you tell them there's a shark following them.
