What's for lunch at the Witch's Cauldron.....?

A few days ago I was sitting in a cafe on Rockeby Road, the main street in Subiaco (affectionately known as Subi by the locals) enjoying an excellent skinny cappuccino. Directly across the road, nestled in the shade of the plane trees that line this very pretty street is The Witch's Cauldron a restaurant well renowned for their 'sizzling garlic prawns'. I like to sizzle and I love garlic but I don't eat prawns so I can't verify this fact.....!
I had heard that the service and quality of the food was not as good as it used to be, and was thinking   about this as I was drinking my coffee and wondering if they'd changed their menu, when I noticed a line of young school children being led into the 'witch's den'. I'd like to show you a picture of them coming out at the other side, but.....I can't! Only kidding, haha! Of course they came out, I just didn't take a picture of it.....!! I hope your new week begins well.....

  16. Not sure if I would go to a restaurant called "the Witches Cauldron". Too many options for ingredients.

  17. With those trees,(plane trees?) the scene seems to be in Provence! But here, witches are called" Masca". And garlic prawns seem very attractive to me, but maybe I'm a kind of witch too?... :o)

  19. It's been a while since I have been there Grace, but I do enjoy their 70s style. And the Sizzling Prawns were superb the last time I tasted them.

  20. Funny name for a restaurant. I imagine it is meant to appeal to the kiddos?

We had a bbq joint called "Fat Boys." Never did understand the thinking behind that name.

Love the shot of the kids walking in.

  26. Subiaco is one of my favourite places in Perth and it's so cosmopolitan and busy and lively. Next time I am in PErth I must go and see what is really cooking in the cauldron!
    Lovely shots, Grace.

  28. Went there last night for garlic prawns, it has changed and not for the better! Garlic prawns were just okay, they are usually fabulous, soup cold, had to be sent back to kitchen, service was the worst! Inattentive, slow, forgetful. After 40 years as a customer i was very diappointed! Have the original owners sold?
