I was struggling a little trying to decide what to post today when I remembered a conversation I had with a friend about gardens, and saying that I wasn't really that big a fan of garden statues, then while I was pottering about in the garden late afternoon yesterday, I looked around and thought.. it could be that I'm in denial about the fact that I actually DO like a few scattered here and there.. The cherub above has been watching over the garden for many years now, the battered old number plate above it is all that is left of the old car that my Dad used to drive before he passed away, sentimental I know!!
Then there's my favorite Belle.....
Winston I think some of you might already have met.....
And yes I know it's tacky, but there is even a garden gnome, what could I do..it was a birthday pressy haha!!
So there you are, not so many...hmmmm! wonder if I can get to the garden nursery before it closes.....! Hope you have an excellent Sunday.....
Normally, when it comes to this kind of statuary, I would say "less is more." But, if you're talking specifically about the fifth one down, I'd say "more is needed"! :-))
ReplyDeleteSome of them are cute and so long as I have to do nothing but not notice them except for once in awhile, I will fight for your right to keep as much garden statuary in your garden as your little heart desires!
First and last pictures are indeed wonderful. Have to admit, that I would love to have such a little gnome in our garden.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Sunday.
I have been wanting a buddha forever! They are always too expensive for my cheap tastes though.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful Belle wins me! I love garden statues with a slightly classical touch! And yes! I have a few statues myself! My little girl and boy names are quite large, detailed and uncoloured! Love their huge eyes! And I have a gorgeous dog also uncoloured! (And then there's a unicorn, a blue-tongue lizard, a buddha...hmmmm)
ReplyDeleteLOLL, for someone who doesn't like garden statuary you're doing very well, Grace!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sunday!
Oh, I love your garden statuary!! But maybe it's because I no longer have a garden?? Still I think yours are delightful, Grace! Hope you've had a great weekend! Enjoy!

I would have to say my favorite one is the bulldog! I have a few frogs in the garden-- Because we are French ("Froggies") and because I like them! ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteGrace, you have such fun statuary. I too like Belle, but I also like you Buddha. And every garden must have a gnome : )
ReplyDeletebarb
A fascinating collection. The putto seems to be lifting the license plate (that's what we call them) to heaven. Buddha has forgotten that sensual pleasure is an illusion and the young lady with the urn - well, best kept behind the garden wall.
ReplyDeleteSo, you don't like garden statuary? Someone is in denial here.
ReplyDeleteYou can ship the comely lady in the fifth photo to Hartford.
Mmmm. I think that you have a wonderful collections there Grace. Love the top image and the buddha (have a similar one hanging out in my garden). Have a great day!
ReplyDeletelol -- for someone who doesn't like garden statues you sure have quite a few. That cherub is terrific. (And, your dad's license plate is perfect.)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have any of these either. It has to be pretty interesting to get into my garden.
ReplyDeleteLove that you have 10 status!! You have a geat garden.
ReplyDeleteBonza photos, i especially like the statue in the 4th photo, why you ask?, it should be obvious!. No garden is complete without a gnome or two even three or four :-).
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection of characters. Very well shot.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth :)
I think your garden is just full of things to make you smile!
ReplyDeleteWhat a whimsical garden you have - lovely!
ReplyDeleteI really think you're in denial! But you should not be, your garden is wonderful and very inviting!
ReplyDeleteHow often that happens - I say I don't like something then look around and find that I do.
ReplyDeletehaha...a garden of delights.
ReplyDeleteI liked the cat one!
ReplyDeleteWho would have guessed............hahaha
I love seeing 'junk' around my garden. Not just statues, but rocks, pieces of metal and driftwood. I have some old stirrups and bits for horses. I even have my dad's branding iron from the farm.
ReplyDeleteI like the whimsical garden statuary! Fun! Hope you enjoyed your weekend, Grace!
ReplyDeleteYou can have the gnomes... but the top shot with the license plate I like.
ReplyDeleteI was gonna say: as long as there are no garden gnomes... Then I saw your last photo. Oh well. Had gardens, but never any statues. Might go for the Buddha next time.
ReplyDeleteI would say that you do indeed like garden statues! I really like that 1st cherub>
ReplyDeleteWonderful images to see.
ReplyDeleteI am not quite ready for garden gnomes yet... or am I?
Take care..
From the looks of it, you do like statuary!
ReplyDeleteI only have a few angels that came with the house that I've been too lazy to get rid of. ;)
I like your owlie though. He's cute!
Love these shots! Why don't you come enter it in my Weekly Top Shot meme? We're on Week #11 and I'd love to see you share with me! Here's this weeks' link: http://www.theviewfromrighthere.com/blog/?p=5812
ReplyDeleteLOL! Great post Grace.
ReplyDeleteFor someone not really into garden statues, you certainly have a fair sized collection :-)
ReplyDeleteI would have to draw the line at garden gnomes... although I have seen some rather interesting ones in the past...

If you're not a garden statue lover, I'd like to see what ones garden who does like statues looks like! I think my favorite is the little girl sitting down under your potted plants!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really into garden statuary either and yes, the gnome is tacky but cute! :-)
ReplyDeleteChuckle!
ReplyDeleteNot many, indeed!
;-D
