Not 'proper' winter until there's snow on the ground!

Sunday morning heading down to Hillarys Boat Harbour for breakfast, the shot below taken at around 8.15 am.. it was bleak, rainy and cold, under 10C, and yes it has been pointed out that it's not 'proper' winter until there is one meter of snow on the ground :) (you know who you are) but as we rarely get below minus in winter that's not likely..

Same day an hour and a half later things were looking up! An after brekkie walk around the marina and the sun is fighting it's way through..  the men in the wet-suits below, only shorts below water, were football players in injury-recovery therapy. I called out 'how cold is the water' the reply 'freezing at first, ok now, my legs are numb' .. maybe that's what I need to do for my knee :)

Look at that.. there was even the hint of a rainbow below as we made our way home! I know.. we don't know what real cold is, it's lucky for moi then that I get to enjoy winter 'proper' vicariously through your wonderful winter scenes :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...

  1. Your winters are very different from ours. And one can never have too much snow.

    The last shot's my favourite!

  7. I didn't think you got snow there! But you've certainly captured well that bleak feeling that accompanies winter in so many areas. And it was nice that things began to change by the end of the day which leaves one with a sense of hope for the future! :)

  10. Love the subdued colors in your second photo, and the rainbow in your last photo. You may not have real cold, but you do have great light.

  15. I guess we are not really prepared for real and extended cold periods and don't, well I don't, really dress appropriately for cold as I am not out it in very long. Snow forecast here tonight, down to 300 metres.

  16. I understand why people like snow, but now I think that those who actually "like" it are a bit daft. Great black and white tree image.

  18. I would choose your winter over snow any day. We went to Melbourne where the weather was miserable, came home to beautiful warm sunny days with bright blue skies. Alas it hasn't lasted grey and cold today.

  21. You gave me a little shock with that title, Grace ;-)
I hate snow. Unless I don´t have to drive, that is. And it´s fresh and white. Hahaha.... that makes it 10 minutes.

  26. The first two photos look more like our winter weather on my peninsula. Lots of grey and lots of wind. They predicted some snow on my mountain, but it did not happen.
