Land of contrasts...

What a difference three months can make to a landscape. Driving to Toodyay (pronounced Toodjay) this week was a little like driving through the English countryside.. if you can imagine field maples instead of scattered groves of eucalyptus trees :) After decent rainfall over the last few months the Avon wheat-belt is lush and green interspersed with large smatterings of yellow canola. The same area below taken in April, parched and dry after a  long hot summer is probably a little more like the perceived idea of Australia as a 'sun-burnt country'. Bon weekend, take care and stay safe..

  2. Using pictures of the same area in different seasons is the most eloquent way to show the differences.

  4. Great looking countryside with all the trees and green fields. That is not what winter brings here.

  6. It is such a contrast. I thought you badly misspelled today, Toodyay.

  8. I have just been in the country and was amazed at how beautiful the country side is looking. There is so much water around, it looks like the farmers are going to be in for a good year!

  13. Crazy, that´s a huge difference, Grace. The first one could be taken here, right now :-) Minus the blue sky, that is...

  15. Wow, that's green as far as the eye can see. That description sounds a lot like Arizona. It's lots more green in the winter than it is in the summer.
