Festival of the Equinox.....

CDP have set us a mid month challenge, thanks Julie :) that is somewhat more challenging than the monthly theme. After thinking about it (read wracking my brains!) the subject that seems to come up most regularly on my favourite blogs around the world are the climatic extremes experienced as each year passes. Despite world conflict and man's determination to push resources to the limits, there is one thing that remains constant, as evidenced here via Mo in London (hope you're feeling better Mo) that as the Northern hemisphere grudgingly awakens from it's winter slumber, here in the Southern half the leaves of the Plane trees are beginning to turn gold heralding the beginning throes of winter..can't wait! It's a fact that I'm technically challenged so my image here is simply a spring flowering freesia superimposed over a picture I took last week at Sorrento Quay of above mentiioned trees. 6. Well you came up with a great photo! Looks like you are ready to trade off weather conditions. Whilst it will get warmer here eventually...never to what you have had (thank goodness :)). Pretty leaves.

  7. Lots of great ccolours and shapes result from your superimposing, Grace. Like you, I am soooo waiting for this Indian summer to be over and for Autumn to sweep in.

What you say about the weather changes worldwide is what I am reading too. The same in the northern hemiphere as down here in the south.

Thank you for this thought provoking contribution to the Festival of the Equinox.

  16. It looks so beautiful there! We were supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow today--instead, we got a thunderstorm that won't go away. Go figure.

  21. Thanks for you well wishes Gracie. I'm still battling the wretched cold, I have had so many since moving to the Northern Hemisphere, oh for some down under sunshine. However that said my favourite seasons are spring and autumn, both have an abundance of pretty colours, each different but so striking. And of course they are the best seasons for light, a photographers best friend. I love your take on climatic extremes, an idea worthy of an entire project.

  27. I like this very much. It's happy, colorful, whimsical and fresh.

We're having our, hopefully, last snowstorm on the last day of Winter in New Hampshire. ugh. We've rec'd 6" in 8 hours & they're forecasting 12-18. I hope they are wrong. It's beautiful but I'm ready for Spring.

  28. What? Those are real things in the photo? Oh, that's amazing! Our leaves change colour in autumn, but not like that. A glorious realisation of the theme!
