As I didn't get out and about much yesterday, these are a few random shots that I took while we were at the zoo last Sunday. One of the first things that caught my eye was the colourful and exotic Bird of Paradise, indigenous to South Africa but grown in many other parts of the world, and high in a palm tree feasting on fruit and nectar two Rainbow Lorikeet.....
Below the nearly extinct baby Gibbon born eight weeks ago (check out the link, their pictures and the story are wonderfully inspiring).....
There is no other animal in the zoo that is more suited to a black and white shot. So here's the question, are zebras black with white stripes or white with black stripes? According to Wiki they are black with white stripes, I'm not so sure, looking at this image below I would doubt that theory, et vous? Hope your weekend is full of colour, take care and stay safe.....
Lorikeets are such striking birds!
ReplyDeleteI can't recall if I've ever seen a gibbon in a zoo, but I have zebras. I'd love to see zebras in the wild.
Your eye, therefore your shots, have a wonderful 'take' on life-

The colours are amazing. I've always been fond of zebras for some reason. So you've just made my day!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the shots but mostly the Bird of Paradise.
ReplyDeleteLove the zebras!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, white with black stripes. Lorikeets have got to be the most colorful bird around and to think they just fly around wild where you are.
ReplyDeleteA fine series, Grace. I hope you didn't take photos yesterday because you were occupied by something more fun.
ReplyDeleteI like the zebras ...

Si c'est noir avec des rayures blanches ! le pinceaux du peintre devait être bien large.

ReplyDeleteTo me this looks exotic and we don`t have any of this here up in the north!

The lorikeets are so beautiful as the gibons are too. It is always nice to see them having youngsters.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine photo selection, Grace! The zebra shot is so cool.
ReplyDeleteI just learned something new! I didn't know the bird of paradise were indigenous to Australia! I have always believed they came from Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteYes, the zebra is perfect for monochrome!
Got Stripes!
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to white with black stripes.
