Discovered this fabulous piece when we were in Victoria Park last week. Painted back in 2014 by Mexican muralist Edgar Flores aka Saner. Painted long before Covid-19 was a reality, although now it is clear that there is always the possibility of that reality. The artist states that he 'uses icons from his cultures, from the past - images from the Mayans and the Aztecs and Mexican symbols'. The traditional Mexican masks ironically relevant today. ReplyDeleteIt's great when it tradition is respected and furthered by Young artists. We are lucky to have Hawaiian artists doing the same, mining tradition as well as their own indigenous subconscious to keep the culture vital.
