White-faced Heron..

I've heard that to be a successful birder you must have patience, either that or find a pair of half-awake white-faced herons obligingly moving lazily in the morning sunshine. You can see by the plumage blowing gently in the early morning breeze and the slight pinkish -brown on the chest that it is the breeding season, perhaps they were conserving their energy :)

All was going well until a cormorant landed in their private space and they were off, first one followed closely by the other leaving the cormorant wondering 'was it something I said' :) Happy weekend, take care and stay safe..

  11. Herons are such elegant looking birds. I love seeing them. I especially like to see them lift off and fly away. They do that so gracefully.

  13. What fun, this post! This seems to be a good week for herons; check out the latest post from my friends in Switzerland about a prophetic heron that visited them: on Facebook: Communaute de Grandchamp .
