Yesterday was the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.. here in Perth the sun rose over the city at 7.17am and set gloriously over the Indian Ocean at 5.20pm giving us 10 hours 3minutes and 26 seconds of daylight.. blue skies and a crisp 16C. By next Monday the days will be getting longer minute by minute. Happy Summer Solstice to all in the Northern Hemisphere, take care and stay safe, especially if you venture near a 'stone circle' :) p.s. you may notice Elizabeth Quay is missing from the foreshore above:) I confess I took the shot a few years ago on Anzac Day in Kings Park..
Both are gorgeous views.
ReplyDeletemy days are now getting shorter and your are getting longer!
ReplyDeleteThese are both remarkable photographs. But my photographer's sense screams "YES!" at the first one. It's impeccable, perfect, the kind of photo that all photogs dream about. Merci beaucoup !
ReplyDeleteYou lucky people, for you the days get longer!
ReplyDeleteWe are having a long sunny day, Grace! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSummer Solstice here, my anti-podean pal!! Super shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. Not to rub it in, but today our day is 16 hours 10 minutes. On the other hand, they start getting shorter from now on.
ReplyDeleteHere in Phoenix the sun rose at 5:19AM and set at 7:41PM and gave us 14 hours and 22 minutes of blazing hot temperatures. 45C to be exact. This is the third day of these extreme temperatures and they are predicting at least 3 more days. I think I'll be spending a lot of time in doors over the next few days.
ReplyDeleteWhenever you took these photo's ...I don't mind, because they are both great.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
We used to party for both summer and winter solstice, but haven't done it for years. Better do some scheduling in the future.
ReplyDeleteMy days are now getting shorter :(
ReplyDeleteIt sure was a stunning day! Love the sunset. Tale care.
ReplyDeleteRoll on summer, I say.
ReplyDeleteAmazing view and great clicks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, velvety sky.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had your shortest as we had our longest but then your on the other side of the Globe
ReplyDeleteGreat images, Grace, both !
ReplyDeleteP.S. You have the shortest day, we have the longest one :)
Looks beautiful. I can see that you are living in a BIG city. (It feels like Stavanger is just a village:) Anyway, when we have rain, wind, storms, snow and ice.... looking at the images you are putting out, than it feels like medicine to me to click and find your blog! Keep warm and enjoy the season.
ReplyDeleteAnd here we just had the Summer Solstice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, Grace!
Beautiful shots, Grace, but, bu-huu for shorter days.
ReplyDeleteYes we had the longest day here, but one day before we had the longest rainshower in 20 years, a nonstop shower from early morning until the evening. Not quite a summer feeling of sitting in the garden until late in the evening...
ReplyDeleteAnd here was summer solstice! Arianna
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Grace! Days are getting shorter here, another way to say that is Shari is getting happier, Bill is not :)
ReplyDeleteIt's gotta be the shortest day some where. Here in the States it is the longest.
ReplyDeleteGlad we're getting longer days. Lovely pictures Grace.
