In the city on Monday to buy a new coat.. it was time, I haven't had a new coat since I went to Paris years ago, it's not such a priority here in Perth :) The good news is that I found the perfect coat in one of my fav shops, Dangerfield. The catastrophe was when, after lunch and almost back to the car I realized my wallet wasn't in my bag! Mad panic rush back to the lunch venue, big busy spot, to find a young man sitting where I had sat. He had handed it in to one of the staff, who had passed it along more than once until it eventually arrived in-tact downstairs at reception. As crazy as this world is right now, I like to believe there are more honest people than not.. just to clarify, when I say people, that doesn't include most people of the political persuasion :)
I took these two shots yesterday afternoon at Hillarys Boat Harbour.. not how you usually see it oui! Seagulls below cavorting in a huge puddle in the car-park! Hope the skies are blue for you today, happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe... p.s. my knee didn't appreciate the mad dash on Monday, back to square one :)
Just when you think it's time to be cynical, someone proves you wrong. Your winter is not like our winter!
ReplyDeleteI never thought you needed them down there
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's a worse feeling than to realize suddenly you've lost something critical to your well-being. I wear a hearing aid and lost it yesterday. Well, until my beloved found it! So glad that your adventure turned out well. It's hotter than hell (I think) here again - in the 90s (f) every day with lots of sunshine. Brutal. Humidity is way up also. That's the way it's supposed to be in south Florida, not here!
ReplyDeleteIt must be a mild winter :) Yes, there are still lots of good people around everywhere which is nice to know.
ReplyDeleteWe've had quite a bit of rain in the UK just typical of Wimbledon fortnight!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that it will be July soon and still not too much sun for us ... meanwhile you seem to have had a lot of rain too!
So pleased your wallet turned up, and yes, there are good people around.
... and please take care of your knee.
All the best Jan
I love moments like this when my faith in the goodness of most of humanity can be restored!!!
ReplyDeleteThat must have been quite a scary moment! Good to hear it had a 'happy ending' :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, Grace! That´s a spring-coat over here! I have one like that in light-green. For spring. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo-so happy to hear about your purse! Actually what I expect from Perthies.
Oh, shoot - hope all goes well with your knee after all!
I would have been in major panic mode with the wallet missing! Glad it all worked out, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that one would ever need earmuffs down there! We only bring them out when it is REALLY cold! ;-))
In winter coats are essential here...lucky to find the wallet! Arianna
ReplyDeleteOh my, it's hot and dry here, there is no justice!
ReplyDeleteHuman nature is to behave decently before behaving badly. The coast was a bargain too. Ear muffs in Perth is a bit silly.

ReplyDeleteThere are many honest people in the world. We just never hear about them. Good post. :-)

ReplyDeleteYou are living right, my friend. I cannot believe your wallet went thru all of that before it got back to you. Amazing. The dock shot is so pretty...nice weather for a new coat. Hope you got a pretty one. genie
ReplyDeleteGlad things turned out well. There are good people in this world.
ReplyDeleteMisplacing a wallet does make the heart go pitter patter, doesn't it? But, I do agree with you. Most people want to do the right thing. (Love that long view down the pier.)
ReplyDeleteGood luck for you! The only country where I'd be confident that would happen is Japan.
ReplyDeleteBut earmuffs in Perth? I would never have imagined it.
Really good news and great wet compositions. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteIs that you in your new coat? I like it anyway but ear muffs in Australia?
ReplyDeleteScary experience with your wallet! Those wet scenes I have seen enough here lately, can't look at them anymore....
What a good story. And a happy ending to boot. I love that first shot.
ReplyDeleteThe winters in Perth are much, much better than what we have here. The winters in my part of the country, plus our two choices for President....it's time to relocate!
ReplyDeleteYou were fortunate to have your wallet found by an honest man. It's so rare these days.
So great that you had your wallet returned, it really makes us believe that there are lots of great people around!
ReplyDeleteSomething similar happened to me before Christmas with 3 beautiful scarves I had bought as presents and left the bag hanging in the shopping trolley.
Late at night I realized I didn't have the parcel, so the next day I drove back there and someone had found it and handed it in to the shop!
Take care with your knee Grace.
Oh how I know that feeling. I've done the same thing twice in the past. Once it was just my wallet which I finally got back without the money in it and once it was my whole purse which I got back in tact. That is a very, very scary feeling. I'm glad you got yours back too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like winter has landed on your shores!
Gosh I'm sorry about your knee. But agree with you about the ratio of decent folk. Whenever scary things happen in the world, just look at ALL the helpers who show up! That gets me through. Love ya, G!
ReplyDeleteI am pleased that you got your wallet back! I know the feeling.... Your coat looks smart, and that will keep you warm. I have not thought about it, but I guess it is true, some places there are people who don't need woollen clothes / winter clothes. Well, here it has been a rainy cold summer day. It will probably be better next week.
ReplyDeleteGreat when stuff like that happens.
ReplyDeleteI hope that the young man was cute enough to hug and kiss in appreciation.
