Monday mural & a gift from Versailles.....!

The mural above is by WA artist Anna McEachran, one of the thirteen artists commissioned to create artwork in the 140ART project. If you click and enlarge this shot and check Anna's site you'll see that she has an unusual and visually appealing painting technique.. this piece is on the Murray St. Mall side of 140William next to Swarovski.. shame about the tagging, a universal aggravation oui!

A short while back Ciel from Versailles celebrated her five years of VDP with a giveaway, one of the prizes being a l'année Le Nôtre shopping bag.. guess where that very same shopping bag is right now? I was delighted when I received un petit paquet from France on Friday and I'm not sure why but I felt compelled to fill it with vin, fleurs et une baguette :) Merci beaucoup Ciel. Hope you've had a good weekend and are set for the week ahead, take care....

  7. I like this a lot except for the blackish slash on the lower part of her face. Maybe that's part of the technique.

  8. :-)

Absolutely love the mural and the way the two gents, so contrasting in the clothes they wear, are walking in opposite directions!

That mural is lovely. It's a shame taggers have to come along....

  12. I can't believe someone tagged that gorgeous mural. That is very aggravating.
How lucky are you? Beautiful tote bag and you seem to have filled it perfectly if you ask me.

  13. I really like the second photo, since it puts the painting in context. Isn't there some way to coat surfaces so that spray paint doesn't stick? NYC subway cars have been like that for years.

  14. I love the mosaic quality of that incredible mural - her other works are as gorgeous! (Horrors about the tagging.) Congratulations and love how you filled that sweet tote!

  15. How gracious of Ciel. The bag, baugette and flowers almost make your room look French, until one looks at the shelf with the Australian-Anglo gardening books.

It is nice to catch up with your blog after being away for a week with no internet connection (on a boat in the Sea of Cortez).

  18. That bread, er, pan in the bag made me long for a crusty piece!

  21. Congratulations on your gift. I had also taken a photo of that mural which I find beautiful, it's so difficult to paint faces (or at least I find it difficult), so the artist has done a beautiful job.

  23. Beautiful mural! A shame it has been tagged :-(

  24. Oh, I hate it when someone feels the need to deface something special.

Neat bag! Now I'm wishing I had been the winner! ;))

  25. Now that's the way to fill a bag ! Félicitations !

  26. It is a well done mural, and your second image with the two men walking in opposite directions adds a lot of interest.

And, congrats on your big victory. (The red walls look smashing!)

  27. The artist's style reminds me of illustrations from the 60s and 70s. Sort of a blast from the past. I see you chose champagne for your shopping bag. Parfait! Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  28. Love the mural! What an interesting technique and I'm sure that attractive lady turns quite a few heads.
PS: I am seriously jealous of "le bag". I wanted that!!! Glad to see it's being put to good use. :)
