After a harrowing ordeal trying to fend off little hands to get the 'kiddies' home, mama duck tucked her head in and had a well earned nap. I love kids, I have two of my own and numerous nephews and nieces..but it really annoyed me when the parents stood by watching as their children got way too close and personal with these little ducklings, distressing mama duck so much that she pecked a finger or two, and who could blame her! What's that I hear? Moi, a grumpy bum! No way haha! Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.....
Not grumpy, just caring. Wonderful photos, thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, indeed, not grumpy, but caring! I have four children and I feel the same way you do! Their Dad and I made sure ours understood that, too! I love your captures for the day, Grace! Hope your week is going well! Hard to believe another weekend is almost upon us!! Time does fly -- whether you're having fun or not!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm in total agreement - some people just don't understand, but the ones that really get me are those that you try telling and all you get is a shrug of the shoulders. As one who spends a fair bit of my photograhy time on birds, I see it often.
ReplyDeleteI always believe with any wild animal, you have to respect their boundaries. It's a shame these adults are raising their children to disregard that.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at the things kids get away with these days and there seem to be few consequences.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day for them all... A very funny reportage!
ReplyDeleteIt is gratifying that go through your blog beautiful pictures my congratulations

I love these photos, but who could blame mama duck indeed! I never quite understand when parents just stand by in these situations, I'm with Team Mama Duck (and Team PerthDP/Gracie) on this one:)
ReplyDeleteSometimes parents amaze me with what they will allow their children to do! I have seen horror stories of letting them poke their hands in gopher holes...where there are frequently snakes! Oh well, I guess I am a grumpy bum too!
ReplyDeleteI would be protective as well:) Those little humans can be quite touchy feely:) Soon I'll have them in the butterfly house and have to watch them carefully because they like to touch every single one:)
ReplyDeleteI agree, with you and the commenters above.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! It is also dangerous for the ducks to get too used to humans as well. They near to keep their fear of strange animals to stay safe.
ReplyDeleteYou are 100% right in your concern! Ah, the rains of Africa. . . thanks for planting that in my soul. . . a memory not mine own generously shared.

ReplyDeletebelle rencontre avec les enfants sur la deuxieme photo
ReplyDeleteOh, the irresistible urge to fondle a baby duckling. "must touch baby ducky!! Arggg!!"
ReplyDeletePSSSST! Some of my most rewarding experiences have come from being a grumpy bum! But don't tell ANYONE!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking along those lines today on my usual walk - lots of teeny tiny ducklings at Stirk Park and mama and papa busy letting everyone know to back off ... so cute in their furry little pyjamas (well that's what it looks like to me) ....
ReplyDeleteNice pics ... hoping for some nicer weather soon ...
You Grace. grumpy .... Never.
ReplyDeleteImpressive ripples and awesome colors in your first composition! Beautiful critters!

Am with you on the disciplining bit..
ReplyDeleteLovely captures!
Nice and interesting pictures!
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me that parents don't forbid anymore. Children must have fun everywhere. Poor mother duck.
ReplyDeleteA momma in need of that break. Whew!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. I wonder if the parents would have done the same thing if it was a momma tiger protecting her cubs. Poor momma duck.
ReplyDeletethis sort of thing truly angers me ..
