Back to the 60's, can you dig it.....!!
Hey dudes, check out the wheels, cool yeh! These are the shots I was holding back from the vintage car show, these beauties brought back fab memories. Picture the scene.. mini skirt, boots, Mary Quant hairstyle, makeup etc. who remembers that world, I know I do, it was the grooviest time ever! I remember thinking I was the 'bees knees' driving around in my Morris Minor (above) only it was bright red (hand painted, kooky huh!) with yellow hubcaps, can you dig it! (NOT happy when it was referred to as the Noddy car!). I wonder how many of us drove around in one of these three types of cars..P had a mini (below) but definitely not in such good nick even back then, his sister a MGB (above)..but my wheels were definitely the coolest man! Happy Wednesday, hang loose and chill! btw. how exciting is it that the CDP is up and running again, a huge thanks to Julie, Eric, Peter, Gerald and all who had a hand in creating this fabulous new site, merci beaucoup! p.s. thanks heaps for all the birthday wishes.....

Ha! ha! ha! Talk about a blast from the past, Grace! :-) I am surprised you are not playing "Hair" (the musical) in the background for this post! :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteYellow hubcaps! You really lived the times Grace!
ReplyDelete(And if you haven't heard already City Daily Photo is back in a new version - http://citydailyphoto.net/ - so spread the word!)
i remember the 60s well ... all that wonderful Carnaby Street stuff, Twiggy, the rad eye lashes ... hot pants .. isn't it interesting that with all the revivals of styles the 60s haven't really made a fashion comeback ..
ReplyDeleteIn retrospect, happy birthday, Grace!
ReplyDeleteIn the 70s I had such a mini, it was my first car.
They are beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteA friend gave me a Fiat 500 that my husband gave his nephew, I was very sad.:(((((
Bonne soirée Grace !!!
That Morris Minor sure brings back the memories. Those sure were the days!! When in London I had my pic taken by the Carnaby St sign and it was a big thrill. When I think of the amount of eyeliner I used back then I can't believe it!!
ReplyDeleteNice rhymin'! Yes, I can!
ReplyDeleteHerrlich diese alten Autos, das waren noch Zeiten...
ReplyDeleteLieben Gruß und einen glücklichen Tag

ReplyDeleteHahaha, groovy post Grace! Aw, missed your birthday, but see you celebrated in one of the best ever cities!
ReplyDeleteHow much fun:) Was this a trip down memory lane?:) I remember these types of cars still driving around when I was little. They've really changed over the years. It's nice to go back in time and revisit a little piece of history.
ReplyDeleteYay, super groovy cars, the sequel! Love the Morris Minor - and those Minis are super-popular here. They say fashion cycles, maybe there's hope yet for Mary Quant hair etc to make a true comeback!:)
ReplyDeleteHate to say but just before my time... BUT I did own a mini for few years, it was very old..hahaha we had to pump the brakes for them to work even the slightest.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!
They were the fun times!! Great memories you've stirred up, Grace! Such a fun post!! I think I'll put on the music from Hair, just for fun!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteI always heard if you can remember the sixties, you weren't there....
ReplyDeleteLove the Mini-Cooper!
Mine was a VW bug. Without flower decals but with lots of dents. The only English cars we saw were Triumphs and Austin Healys. But your car does sound groovy.
ReplyDelete60s. Hmmm. I know I was there but I don't remember much about it.
ReplyDeleteoh I dig you, Baby. HEAVY!
ReplyDeleteThanks for YOUr sweet visit!

Oh yes, I remember that era very well! I didn't have a great car like this but, I was feelin' pretty groovy all the same. At least, that's what I remember. Ha!
ReplyDeleteToo fun. I would love to have that Mini Cooper.
ReplyDeleteI'm always enchanted by vintage cars, I love that white one!

ReplyDeleteI stopped reading after mini skirt, boots! I will soon be back to normal.
ReplyDeleteI tried to get my drivers licence in the mini long, long ago. I never got one...
ReplyDeleteI like these classic car shows as I usually find several like the ones I owned back in the good ol' days. My first car was a 1937 Chevy!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE all the Morris Miner cars I have seen (only a few here in Norway, but in the UK there are still some left!:)
ReplyDeleteAh, memories, my first car was a MGB Roadster.....youth killed it quickly though, I think it lasted five months before I wrapped it around a tree! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI had a friend in high school whose dad had one of those MGB Roadsters. What a car....
