Dutch classic on the Terrace..

Don't you love it when you come across something in your city that you haven't seen before. Coming onto St Georges Terrace just down from the Barracks Arch there it was chained to a signpost. An everyday sight for European readers and perhaps even for some Perthites, but it was a first for moi! The Dutch Cargo Bike Co has had a test centre for their e bikes in Claremont since 2016, who knew! I do believe this is the Bakfiets cargo bike.. have a look, it is so adaptable, with safety belts and all. I would have paid money to see a group of Bakfietsen traveling down the terrace :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

  3. How cute. I saw similar ones in Amsterdam with pets being transported in the cargo compartment.

  4. Funny enough, Grace, just yesterday we saw a docu on uber-bikes and they tested such one. Not easy to drive, it seems even though (or because) it was empty.

  5. Cargo bikes are increasing in number these days. I know a fellow in Ames, Iowa who builds them and uses them to run a moving company. He does not own a truck, but can move a household across town with great efficiency.

  6. There are quite a few of them here and they seem to be a great way for transporting kids or just groceries!

  7. A small touch of Holland in Oz. Don't see many cargo bikes here in the States, even in Holland, Michigan.

  19. Cool!!! I think it would be very cool to live somewhere where something like this would not just be practical, but accepted as a mode of transportation...Some how, I don't think that would go over very big in Los Angeles! (Too many people and cars...it wouldn't be practical and the authorities would probably frown on it...)

  20. That's so practical! I wonder why we don't see anything like this in the U.S.
