Beaucoup de pluie!

I have been looking forward to taking some umbrella shots I just didn't think I'd be taking one of my new young neighbour across a river between us! On Monday afternoon the skies opened and a deluge of water fell.. in the space of fifteen minutes this was the result. As road evolved into river I called across 'don't worry, this happens every year, it'll be fine'! Ten minutes later as the water encroached further and further up my lawn and carport I wasn't quite so calm. You can see the problem in the third shot, the road slopes and we're in the dip and the drains couldn't cope with the volume. There was only one thing to do! I went out, pointed to the sky and said STOP! A minute later it did.. what can I say.. need any help :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...

  2. Wow as you say trop de pluie. When we lived next to the Hunyani river in 'Rhodesia' occasionally the water would lap our front door. That was bad enough, but there were also a lot of crocs in the river!!!
Looks pretty wet, glad your command to stop it worked :-)) Great photos Diane

  5. Now that's a downpour Grace. Sometimes you just have to use the superpowers that you were given. It still works for you, must be the pointing of the finger. :)

  8. That is a lot of water. Now what if the rain kept going for another 15 minutes? Would Grace have soggy carpets?

  11. That's an epic downpour! It looks like you had more to worry about than your neighbor did. Be careful about your wishing for umbrella shots.

  15. I always knew that you are powerful woman, Gracie, but when the rain gods do your bidding, I am definitely impressed.

  17. Oh my goodness, you did get a deluge. The same thing happens here when it rains. In places where rain is a rarity, the drain systems seem to have trouble keeping up.

  19. Wow, that was quite a river by your front door. We didn't get much rain on Monday (south of the river that is), but plenty on Saturday and today.

  20. It's so funny, I'm an umbrella person too, I even once painted a picture for my mother of just umbrellas moving in a crowd! Your first photo is just the perfect catch that we photographers hope to find! Bravo.

  21. Reminds me of the flooding rains that we had when I lived in Houston. I didn't know that you had powers. It's dry around here. You think if I point at the sky and said "rain"...it would work?

  22. The voice of authority triumphs. I'm glad we don't live near any of the several rivers in the area.
