On the way to the fair!

We were up and off into the country at the crack of dawn yesterday morning.. more on why tomorrow. We've driven through this small town just over an hour (85km) north-east of Perth many times but I can't remember the last time we stopped, so glad we had a reason to this time.. I took these shots as we were getting closer.. after a long hot summer things are pretty dry and it looks like there may have been a fire through this area.. there are no pretensions about the Australian bush, it is what it is, beautiful in it's own unique way...

Looking back down the drive up to Pelham Lookout.. from the top you can see our destination snuggled way down there in the Avon Valley.

By the time we arrived we were ravenous, more than ready for a hearty breakfast.. you'll never guess where I took the reflection shot below.. we found the most extraordinary tribute to an American icon right here in the middle of the Australian bush, incroyable! Excellent breakfast too. Hope your weekend is a little less hectic than mine, take care....

  6. The Bush landscape reminds me a bit of American deserts and some resemblance to parts of South Africa.

  9. You're right Grace it's getting chilly - you have sleeves on, warm ones too!
By gosh that first photo threw me, it could have been taken from my former property in the Hunter Valley overlooking the area there. Totally amazing!!
I'm still dieting, but go on - what did the 'hearty breakfast' consist of..... ;)

  16. The Outback looks a lot like the Arizona desert so I think I might feel right at home there. I did a Google Earth search of Avon Valley and wow, you really are in the middle of nowhere! Yikes!

  20. The bush does look very, very dry. And those look a lot like Coke signs, and a pretty blonde.

  22. Your shot down to Avon Valley could easily be in the California foothills.
