School's out....!

We called in at Neil Hawkins Park (just one of the recreation areas in Yellagonga Regiional Park) on the way home from the city on Monday, it was nice to see so many parents out with their children in the fresh (very fresh) air on the first day of the school hols, so much more fun than computers and TV oui! Although it's definitely not encouraged to feed the birds, this small area above seems to be the exception, I think the appropriate seed for the parrots and pigeons is available and the birds are so tame that they feed off your hand....not my hand, apart from that scary, pointy beak on the long billed Corella (not the same as the Little Corellas that visit me) they looked kinda grumpy don't you think :) Have a happy middle of the working week, take care and stay safe.....

  3. I don't usually feed the birds but I'd probably make an exception here, feeling like a schoolkid!

  6. Oh, by golly, Grace, mais vraiment, they do look grumpy, kinda! I go with Adullamite, though, pigeons are a pest over here, better see those grumpy ones! (Will have to wait for that, though!)

  7. I'm not sure I'd let my kids feed them! They do look a bit "I'm in charge, look out" don't they? Gorgeous colouring though.

  8. That's quite a beak on these feathered friends...but pretty none the less! It is nice to see kids outside playing...toward the end of the month I'll be keeping my g'kids for 5 days (no nights) I'm hoping I can manage them on at least one visit to the park :)

  9. We have corellas, but I am sure I have never seen this long-beaked variety. They seem to have more pink under the beak than the ones I know too! I guess I shall never say our corellas are ugly again because this variety seems uglier. And it seems that all states have school holidays at roughly the same time! Good to see young ones out and about!

  14. Yes indeed, that long curved bill gives them a very angry look. I don't think I'd chance hand feeding them either.
