Tree with a view l .....

One of the things I love about Paris is that if you keep your eyes open you can see little glimpses of La Tour Eiffel from so many places, up little side roads, across a 'pont'. It's the same in Sydney with the Harbour Bridge, it's iconic presence can be seen from far and wide, and even in St. Louis, Bob shares a picture every Thursday of the fabulous St. Louis Arch.. We don't have any really tall iconic structures, well there is The Bell Tower (Bell Tower) which I've shown previously, but because it's situated fairly low on the banks of the Swan River it's not that visible.  Just lately I've noticed that the one thing that you CAN see glimpses of from the most unexpected places is our beautiful City itself, so I will keep my peepers peeled to see how many spots I can find her.. This view is from  Lake Monger a  great place to walk especially if you are a bird watcher...Happy Thursday.....

  6. I can't say I noticed the ET in Paris, not being there long enough perhaps, but you are certainly correct about the Harbour Bridge. While Melbourne's Eureka building is very tall, it is not seen too often from the south, or perhaps I don't notice it. The Bell Tower is very impressive.

  12. It's that little pecking bird at the bottom that makes this picture just delightful. Thank you for the compliment. I try to return the favor in my Thursday post.

  13. I'll be watching.

This is a lovely picture. The orange hue is unexpected and nearly otherworldly.

  16. Funny, when in Paris I never look for the Eiffel tower. I drive past it every day on my way to and from work and could see it from the périphérique but never bother! When in Berlin however, I always look for the TV tower...

Grace, this is an absolute gem of a shot!

  22. In Phoenix/Scottsdale, it is Camelback Mountain that provides the landmark.

  27. It looks more like a lake and less like a wetland to me (but I'll take wikis word for it). I'm afraid the most iconic structure where I live is the "Hollywood Sign"

    bleh

Even then we discovered, much to our horror, it was in private ownership by a firm in Chicago who was getting ready to sell it to an arab sheik from Dubi. Hugh Hefner of playboy fame, managed to get it protected. Or so I hear - time will tell

  28. A stunning setting for this tree! Your profile says that you feel younger than you are - later in life you'll be thankful for that, trust me!

  29. I'm sure is your city Perth, beautiful. According to Google Earth is relatively far from the larger cities. I'm sure you have a healthy environment and the clean air from the ocean...I can't imagine the celebration of Christmas in summer. Maybe it is more pleasant than a bleak winter here. Thank you for the nice comment. Sincerely, Peter.
