Not quite kosher.....!!

For ten months of the year Karrinyup (great name yeh!) Shopping Centre (Karrinyup) is my shopping centre of choice, it has everything I need including a cafe where I don't even have to tell them how I like my coffee, they just know!! Then for two months at the end of the year when they drag out the Chrissy decs it all goes 'pear shaped'... You can see why can't you...I mean.. WHY PURPLE? It's just not right, they're Prancing and Dancing alright but I bet Donner and Blitzen would be mortified, as for the tree, those colours are hideous, and yes I know in the overall BIG picture it's a small matter, but what happened to red, gold and green and even white reindeers would be acceptable..next year I'm definitely complaining to the management, 'grumpy old woman comes to mind' haha!  What do you think..traditional or 'glitzy'.....!! Thanks so much for the 'get better' vibes, much appreciated.....

  2. Personally, I like it. Purple zings. And it's a nice change from the old, traditional, boring colors. Very festive. I think I would like this mall very much!

  3. Grace...I take it you don't like purple : ) I actually kind of like it. What is don't like is the blow up lawn ornaments that have become popular over the last couple of years.

  6. OK - this shall bother you to no end, but I put up my "Chrissy decs" (love that expression and I'm stealing it) on Face Book today. A lone silver cyber-optic tree with purple lights and ornaments. If only I could have me a purple deer. If your lodged complaint gets action - would you please send Donner and Blixon my way?

  8. Not many things about Christmas ARE kosher, Grace. Religion aside, however, I regard Christmas as open slather. Especially things racing over snow in Australia ...

  9. On this one, I have to agree whole-heartedly. Green, red, white and even blue would be so much better. And, they really do need more lights on that tree. You know, I've seen one or two unusual and eclectic holiday displays that when you see them they seem to work somehow. It can be done! If I see one I like I'll post it.

  10. I agree with you, it looks odd!
Do they have the same decorations each year?

Hope you are feeling better, I have been flying on and flying off, so much going on at the moment.

    BIG hug ♥

  11. Even though it isn't ugly, I have to agree that a bit of red would have been nice!

As for the cuppa in your garden, give me 48 hours to get myself sorted and onto a plane, lol! :-)

  19. My favourite colour is purple, but somehow a purple makeover for the reindeer seems more an expression of clever art rather than Christmas spirit! It just seems that the motive doesn't quite fit a Christmas concept!

  20. I guess I too am a traditionalist .. if you're going to haul out the holly, deck all the halls and make it jolly .. you need to go the red/green route ..

  21. I rather like the purple in some ways- but shopping centres the world over seem to go for overboard unnatural brightness and vulgarity when it comes to Crimbo decorations- thanks for alerting us to Perth's though Grace ;-)

  22. Purple is a different choice for Christmas decorations. But it got you looking at them, right? I bet that's what they want! :)

  23. i like the purple theme though, feels so wintery wonderland. ^0^
glad you're enjoying you're christmas shopping.

  24. Maybe it's not a Christmas tree. Maybe it's a 'holiday tree'...which possibly could explain the unusual choice of color. :) Or, maybe, someone just gave the decorator a smidge too much latitude.

  25. Nope, you're right. NO PURPLE! There I'm officially grumpy too. White would have been stunning.

  26. I'd never use purple to decorate my home for Xmas. But I don't mind if shops do it, it makes a change, and sometimes a good one. In your picture, I'm not shocked by what I'm seeing. And I like the flying reindeers!

  27. Magnifique, ce hall! Comme dans les comédies musicales.
On s'attend à voir danser Fred Astair!...
    Bonne fin de journée, Gracie!

  28. Do not worry about the color. These reindeers are the replacements

  29. Let's say that the color is quite on the creative side!

  31. lol !! well ... sometimes... it's good to get away from the traditional colours of gold/silver/red/green :)
Must i must say that... wow this purple !! very bright lol !!
and lucky you to be able to take some shots there ! last time i got stopped for taking pics in a shopping centre... so annoying cos I'd like to capture the spirit of xmas !

  32. oh, I have to disagree! I love the purple! They just need a bit of lime green, pinks & golds to make it even more stunning. That's my two cents!

  33. Nice decorations. I like that color, it is cheerful.

  34. Looks like a very modern shopping center and perhaps they wanted a VERY modern tree as well. It just is what it is. We have a traditional tree in our mall, but I live in a conservative town.

  35. I think purple seems to be the 'in' colour this year all over; I'm in the UK and it's the same here also,

  36. I LOVE purple, my favorite color, but I'm with you shaking my head on this one. I guess I just like the traditional colors better. Last year all our Christmas illumination went crazy for blue LED lights and I hated it. Bring back the reds and greens please :D
