Isn't it ironic..

'The purpose of the camera is to capture memories,
not replace them'.. Abhijit Naskar

Was looking for the perfect birthday card for my sister a while back and when we were visiting the gift shop in the Fremantle Arts Centre a few months ago, before the world came to a standstill, I found it. I also couldn't resist the card here by Australian cartoonist, artist and writer Judy Horacek. Honestly if you have five minutes and need a smile you should have a look at her work here, she is brilliant and funny too :) Btw the next time I specifically go to watch a sunset I am leaving my camera and phone at home, will sit on the grass/beach and fully appreciate the beauty 💛 Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

  1. Her cartoons are wonderful.
I stopped leading walks in Britain's National Parks before the age of social media, but I'm told by a friend who is still leading groups that he does actually get complaints that the very poor mobile reception in mountain areas prevent people posting selfies immediately they take them.

  2. I have found myself so busy looking through the lens that I don't really see the world. And I don't have an iPhone so am not worried about mobile reception. Stay safe, Grace!

  3. What a cute card Grace.
I do love sunsets but I'm guilty of taking a couple of photos of them. In fact I have some in my post today :)

  5. I don't have a smart phone but I do carry my pocket camera with me. It's small and fits in my shirt pocket. I spent more than five minutes looking at those creative cards. She has some great ones. Have a wonderful Sunday, Grace.

  6. A very nice card Grace!
So in other words, Judy Horacek means "make memories and not photos"!
    Have a great Sunday!

  7. LOL. And you're right, you can get so caught up in taking the photo that you miss out on the joy (although hopefully the joy will come later if you got some great shots!).

  8. I still find it funny that people take "photos" with their smartphones.

  11. Sometimes you have to stop the photography, just breathe and look.

  12. That quote is so true! That makes a great card. Sometimes I spend too much time looking through the lens and not enough just looking. I need to remember that.

    Happy Weekend.

  14. Well I think photography makes me see more than I would otherwise. It makes me stop when I would otherwise just let things pass me by. For me it is a way of living twice.

  15. I would find it difficult to watch something without a camera but who knows perhaps a relevation for me.
