If they made tugboats bigger...

'If they made tugboats bigger, they could be the boats other boats tug..'

There is a cafe at Fremantle Harbour where you can sit and watch the coming and going of boats into the harbour between the lighthouses on the South and North mole above. I would have preferred if a tall ship in full sail had blown into harbour but as unexciting as a container ship is, it's the tugboats that are always a delight to watch. Sturdy little vessels pulling, pushing and bullying the much larger vessels into position. Is there anyone who doesn't love 'sittin on the dock of the bay.. watching the ships roll in'.. go on I dare you to listen, super song to have stuck in your head :) Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

  1. The tugs are more appealing than the big ones.

  3. You've immediately transported me back over 30 years to when I sat on the Welsh coast near Milford Haven watching the oil tankers being tugged into position. I think I may have been doing an Otis Redding impersonation at the time too!

  4. You have made that container ship into a thing of beauty...on a beautiful day with that blue sky and blue water. I do love the tugboats, though. They are like firemen, unsung heroes. Our larger ships would never make it into port without them or without causing an immense amount of damage!

  8. Nice shots. I have not seen tugs for years even though I've seen some large cargo ships when I lived in Hopewell, VA

  10. They are fun to watch. Unfortunately we don't see such things here as the port is a secure area.

  12. The close sea port is about six hour drive. Most of our goods come by truck and then train.

  19. Amazing they can pull those ships, I don't see that very often, our seaships come in at large waterways in Rotterdam, that is the biggest harbour we have here.

  20. Your photos reminds me that I should take the commuter to Nynäshamn and watch the boats arriving to the port.

  22. Of course, the bay in that song is San Francisco, which I hope to see in about six months. I suppose that much of Perth's needs must arrive by ship.
