Scarborough Beach swimming pool..

When we first came to Perth we lived for a few years in a top floor apartment in Scarborough directly across from the beach.. it was sun, surf and beach all the way, our view across the sand dunes uninterrupted by any form of building at all. How things change! Even with height restrictions, over the years that view was solidly blocked by development of new apartments. Scarborough Beach today couldn't be more different from when we arrived and the change continues with a bit of an overhaul which should be complete within a month or so. Meanwhile the geo-thermally heated Olympic sized beachfront pool opened ahead of time at the beginning of this week. Once the word gets out I think it's going to be pretty busy all year round. Looks amazing with the Indian Ocean sparkling in the background don't you think! Happy Friday, Australia Day for us, take care and stay safe...

  1. What a place for a swim! I assume the second one's more of a wading pool, no deep end.

  3. Fine looking swimming pools. Swimming in the pools means fewer sharks. This looks great to me. It was 16 F here this morning, and I would love to send you an inch or two of snow.

  4. It's a beautiful place for sure. I'd have a hard time choosing between the ocean and the pool.

  7. That pool is amazing. And the sea is amazing - what fantastic emerald colors...Sometimes change can be good, but these days I find that I feel most change is bad or useless or going to provide prosperity for a few and hell for the many.

  8. So, you have always been a Northie. It is a fine looking pool, and shark proof, unlike the beautiful waters beyond.

  9. Very inviting, Grace. More people will frequent this area. I love the pool, it's shark free and that's great. Happy Australia Day!

  10. Seems like all over the world politicians only think of one thing lining their pockets and those of the developers (and neither care about preserving the area)and building right up to the ocean and ruining things. IN any case that is one great looking pool and the ocean looks wonderful.

  17. Oooh! That looks truly gorgeous! Nice, long lap lanes. All those blues in your shots -- the ocean, the pools, the sky -- look like heaven from this chilly hemisphere.
