Cycling through the mizzle..

On Monday Perth had the wettest January day in 18 years. Tuesday and yesterday it was more about the mizzle :) a most uncomfortable (90%) humid mix of mist and drizzle. Still, it didn't stop visitors with their bicycles boarding the Rottnest Express to head over to Rottnest Island 18km west of Fremantle, to enjoy the simple pleasures in life (check it out). I haven't been over to Rottnest since a rough crossing many years ago, I still shudder every time I see a brown paper bag.. kidding :) Rottnest is a must-do destination for visitors to Perth, much loved by locals also. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe...

  1. I love Rottnest Grace, such a pretty and relaxed tiny island. The humidity has been terrible.

  2. Wonderful transportation photos with ferry boat and bicycles. I like your suggestion of going to the island for a bit of biking, but I would prefer sunshine.

  3. I bet all that rain is welcome in your area. It would be here.

  5. The weather world wide seems to be out of kilter somehow ...
Too much rain, severe cold !!!

That looks a lot of bikes on the ferry, as always great to see your photo's.

    All the best Jan

  6. That is a lot of bikes, Grace! I'd prefer to ride in the sunshine though!

  7. Lots of visitors and lots of bikes. I think the island will be overrun. I think you should get over there and protect it from crazy tourists! Sorry about your previous experience, but go again, this time with Dramamine! Lots of it. And methinks you'd prefer a little mist/rain than 2 feet of white stuff! :)

  8. I love Rottnest, I was there in 2002. We used the hop on hop off bus visiting heavenly beaches. It was mid week and we almost had the island to ourselves. We enjoyed the company of some cute Quokkas too.

  9. I'm looking at the port area in the background, it looks very much like how ours does here.

  11. Looks like a great place to have a fun day or weekend. Lots of bikes there, so there must be lots of people going to visit. I love your word mizzle, I ever heard that before. :)

  12. We found it terribly rough, especially going over, but worth it. I had the theme tune of Gilligan's Island running through my head. Stupid parents though, letting kids run around and if not getting hurt themselves, in danger of hurting other people.

  13. That's a lot of bikes...and a lot of summer rain. The bikes sound like more fun than rain and mizzle (a term I rather like even if it does imply some misery).

  16. Humidity is very uncomfortable, better stay in in a cool area. Here we are blown away with a heavy storm, no trains, public transport or aeroplanes. The whole country is inside.

  17. First time I've ever heard the term "muzzle" -- clever. Small ferry...hope it doesn't go travel very far.

  18. Since 18 years, bummer, Grace! Rainy and stormy here, and cold.
Yes. Next time we go visit!
