The ladies light up for the Melbourne Cup!

The Melbourne Cup.. 'the race that stops a nation' or as I like to call it 'come in number 7 your time is up'.. more about that later :) Yesterday was the perfect spring day so instead of attending a Melbourne Cup lunch as usual, we ventured into the city. Along with hundreds of others we watched the race on the big screen in Brookfield Place, it was so much fun to see all the ladies in their race-day finery.. killer heels and fabulous fascinators, some possibly made by 'All The Pretty One's Are'..

The gorgeous ladies from Aradise in partnership with Aveda were there to provide that finishing touch!

So here the sad tale begins, or as I like to call it 'six reasons you shouldn't bet on the Melbourne Cup' :) My once a year bet on a horse race was narrowed down to two.. 'Beautiful Romance' and 'Heartbreak City'. The romantic in me chose the former, the realist should have picked the latter which came in second.. below my 'coming in seventh' horse.. he's still a beauty and it was only $5 :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...

  2. Sounds like a good time for only $5. Nice collection of shots to tell the story.

  3. I've never bet on horses for the Melbourne cup, but I would probably pick my favourites from by their names too.

  5. Wow! I'm impressed. This must be quite a race. Sorry your bet went south, but gambling is always a gamble! Love all the ladies and I noticed that many of the men were dressed up also. That's nice. These days, so many people scrape the bottom of the barrel to see how scruffy they can look no matter where they are or what the event.

  6. Wow, Grace, this is truly "very British" (to me).
Good thing it was only $5!

  7. Some styling people there rooting for their favorites. I thought it would be a free event except at the race track. I guess I was wrong and I didn't even have to wager a bet. :)

  9. Great variety of dress up colour and style. You won't believe this. But our once a year betting was narrowed down to the same two horses. And for the same reason, our choice was Beautiful Romance.

  19. The ladies look delightful in their finery. My daughter's friend part owns Heartbreak City and for a moment they thought they had won, it was so close. Sonya had the best seats in the owners box but she was sick with a chest infection and the weather was cold and wet.

  20. What a nice series of photos you made. Everybody looks very fashionable for the event. Never mind you missed our Royal couple, I am sure you had a great time watching the race and all the fancy people. I have seen pictures of them here too.
