'Grow Your Own' view of Perth.....!

Here's the thing, it was only when I downloaded that I realised there was a bit of 'smooching' :) going on in the background, do I delete or do I make the call that a) they're in Forrest Place the hub of the city and b) they're pretty far off and sideways on. I like the shot with the pile of City of Perth Winter Arts magazines leaning up against the now familiar and mostly accepted Grow Your Own sculpture by Perth born artist James Angus. I didn't linger, with a slight shift to the left I took the shot below keeping in mind the artist's concept of utilizing the 'cactus' as a 'lens to see the city with a different attitude' :) Haha! I dig it, do you? Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.....

  1. Oh, loving the sculpture and captures! I like them both and the 'smooching' adds a small/sweet human touch - as you say, they're so far off and sideways, anyway:) It almost looks like the pile of magazines is holding up that one cactus leg, haha.

  4. I'm loving this sculpture! It certainly adds a some bright color to this street corner. I think you are at a sufficient distance to not invade the privacy of that young couple. Since they are smooching it up in public anyway, they can't really expect to escape the lens of the roving photographer.

  5. The 1st pic made me think of a giant spider! Then I saw the whole sculpture, and I like it, very joyful! and the picture too!

  6. I too like this piece a lot, Grace. The couple is a fair distance away and it would be hard to recognize them so I wouldn't worry.

  12. Through the eye of the photographer .... a great perspective Grace. Smooching in the background .... that's life!

  13. Why even consider deleting? I don't get it, but it's a funky sculpture.

  15. I wouldn't have notice the smooching unless you pointed it out. I think I prefer the second photo, any way.

  19. That's an interesting structure Grace. A bit too green for me. Is the stack of magazines by the leg placed there to ensure it doesn't blow away? In answer to your question on my last post I have the camera set to a lower shutter speed and then hold the camera as still as possible to capture the movement of the tram in the background. Best with a tripod.

  22. I like this a lot. The color is wonderful. Re public smooching: I figure, if you've got the gall to smooch out where everyone can see you and I have a camera in hand, you're fair game! :) I shoot!
