Birds in my garden Vlll, pesky beauties.....!

I didn't have to venture far for my post today, I heard the familiar screeching of the Rainbow Lorikeets in the back garden very early in the morning. They haven't been around for a while so I took the opportunity to make my way out stealthily (?) to take a few shots. In my garden they always seem to arrive in pairs but when they travel around in large groups they can be a right pain in the orchard!! The Lorikeets aren't indigenous to WA, apparently they were 'accidentally' released, or the story I prefer is 'there were some aviary escapees', I can imagine a group of desperado parrots making a planned getaway haha! They breed like rabbits and are now classified as a pest here in WA, I haven't witnessed the havoc they can create in groups, I just enjoy them two by two when they visit! Happy Thursday, hope it's a good one, take care and stay safe.....

  2. They are so bright, they look as though they might not be real - but I can imagine the damage a hungry flock might do.

  4. When humans tamper with Mother Nature's delicate balance, it can cause such a MESS! They are so beautiful, hard to imagine the havoc they are causing. Good shot Grace.

  5. Very nice pics Grace, of a beautiful bird, pesky or not.

  6. They are still beautiful captures of a brilliant-looking bird. Even if they shouldn't be there... This seems to be happening in so many places - I remember a documentary about a homeless man in San Francisco who studied the (non-native) wild parrots there, and there were so many green parrots in our old neighborhood in London.

  14. Flocks of these little fellas can wipe out a paddock full of crops in a matter of days thus destroying the farmers income.

  15. The same thing happened in south Florida when some morons let loose some wee green parrots. Now they're everywhere and a huge nuisance. At least yours are colorful!

  16. Haha! I actually think their presence is due to a combination of BOTH stories!! And I also think they're going for world domination ...

  17. I had 2 in a cage this year but they make so much noise and mess we gave them back to the pet shop. Now I have 2 sweet blue and white budgies instead with much less mess and noise. So much better.Fiona

  22. They may be pests, but they certainly are awesome. Beautiful colors and they must be wonderful to see in flight.

of remarks on this page "Birds in my garden Vlll, pesky beauties.....!".
I do have a couple of questions for you if it's okay. Is it simply me or do some of these responses appear like they are written by brain dead individuals? :-P And, if you are writing on other social sites, I'd like to keep up with you.
