If it makes you happy.....!!

One of the things I enjoy most about photography is the diversity of images that can be created ..I know there are the purists who think that the captured image should always be as clear and precise as the subject itself, and at times I'm there, that's me too, but there are also times photography is like art, it's what makes you look at an image and see something about it that makes you smile,  a feeling! These two ducklings splashing around creating ripples in the water that caught the sunlight made me happy, but I can almost hear my 'friend and sometimes mentor' groan out loud when he clicks on to see what I've posted today...ah well 'vivre la difference'.....!! Have a happy day.....

  1. I totally agree with you and always think we need to create, invent and experiment with new ways of shooting. I really enjoyed your shot because from a lake you have created a beautiful abstraction.

  2. You're so funny! I like the way you lead with your heart and let the chips fall where they may...so far as I'm concerned, photography is art. It's not reality but merely suggests one person's point of view about a subject at a moment in time, never to be repeated. Furthermore, another photographer would have a totally different point of view shooting the same subject and it would also be a capture of another point in time!

That point of view is modified en camera by the camera - a JPEG file, for example, has already been sharpened, adjusted for contrast, etc., before you see it! What the photographer does with the image from that point on is his or her artistic statement.

So smile and be as artsy as you want!

  3. Interesting topic, Grace I get some pleasing accidents some days. Did you see Birdman's post today? He also posted a photo that is not a conventional crisp and focused shot.

  6. You are right and your friend is wrong. Soft focus and complicated composition have always been part of a photographer's bag of tricks,to be used when the occasion requires it.

  7. Sometimes you get a feeling that just works or shows what you want to show. Other times its the only fleeting chance you get to take the shot. If it works for you, it works. This works.

    Quel plaisir!

  15. I like this one. It's rather impressionist. I think we should listen to our inner artists every once in awhile. Yours seems to be on the right track! :)

  16. I fall under the category of 'Purist' for my own work. But, I love to see what others do with their photography...focal point, depth of field, angle, subject matter, post production...the list goes on and on. I really like this image. It's mesmerizing.

  17. You are so right! There are many ways to look at a photo. Sometimes a mistake is the best photo you've taken. Sometimes a carefully composed and studied photo is the best. It just depends on your perspective. This photo gives me a feeling of freedom.

  18. In my opinion photography is photography just because it is not art. You can have some fun with images but a good picture always shows what is there. The 'eye', a good composition and some technical skills help much more than creativity...
