Work in progress.....!

Even graffiti artists need a coffee break! This guy was busy in the Murray Street mall, he had his radio, a pretty young lady to chat too and a gorgeous sunny day, he was a happy man indeed!  It's  fantastic that graffiti has become more accepted as an art form, it has cheered up many an ugly building. On the other hand it is not so much fun when 'tag artists' leave their signature uninvited on freshly painted surfaces that would prefer to stay unmarked. I will have to return to the scene this coming week end to see the finished result of the work above. p.s. if you zoom in on the two cross beams, fun little tags on each!

Hi Sharon, so glad you got it sorted, it's a bit annoying when things don't work, especially when you have something to say haha!!

  4. I don't like graffiti as a rule either, but if it's planned like this is it still griffiti? I like the tag on the crossbeam, pretty clever.

  7. I make a big distinction between urban art that has an owner's permission, which is fine, and unsolicited and unwanted graffiti, which is callous "look at me" destruction.

  9. WE are on the same page today aren't we! WEll you already know how I feel about graffiti. I think it's ruining our cities. It's rampant in Paris but also across America!

  10. Do post a photo of when it's done as well! I so envy the creativity and skill of some graffiti - they really can be works of art.

  12. Like you, I'm not a lover of tagging either - eyesores they are. But I do like graffiti, I love graffiti. Such talented young artists who work hard at their craft.
I will have to check back to see the finished product.

  14. Great shot Gracie. I love the fact that street art is becoming more acceptable round the world too- and is given space where it enhances a place, rather than the need for people to damage other buildings.
