Perthites arriving into the city early yesterday morning were met by this extraordinary sight outside the train station.. talk about a "Lilliputian' moment! We were in the city to see the Little Girl Giant walk yesterday but weren't expecting to see 'the diver' until today. His appearance asleep on the streets of Perth was just one of the many surprises Jean-Luc Courcoult, Artistic Director of French street theatre company Royal De Luxe had in store for us yesterday.. no doubt there will be more today. You can read here how Perth, the Noongar Nation and ANZAC were integrated into the Giants saga.. we are incredibly lucky to be enjoying this three day once in a life time experience.. merci beaucoup M. Courcoult. Bon weekend, take care and stay safe.. p.s. was out late last night at a faaaabulous Fringe show, catch up today!

Brookfield Bunnies.. silent sentinels!
Yesterday the Cultural Centre today Brookfield Place! Although spotted all over town during Fringe World this is home base for the Stormie Mills Brookfield Bunnies.. I can't help wondering how long it took before the 3m tall pink bunny became invisible to the office workers in the surrounding sky-rise glass towers :) I think they're fun, might be nice if one stayed around after the festival, just to pop up and surprise us now and then! Going into the city today to see the first part of a three day giant story (sneak peak), tres exciting! Have a good Friday, take care and stay safe..

'Der Rufer' and the pink bunny!
Oyez! Oyez! Or should it be Höret! Höret! 'Intruder Alert' announces 'Der Rufer' standing in the Perth Cultural Centre. 'The Caller' created by German artist Gerhard Marcks, one of a number produced by the artist, including one erected in Berlin in 1989 shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall where 'The Caller is said to be calling 'peace', has had exclusive position here for many years, so it's understandable he might be a little put out by the appearance of a giant pink bunny on his patch :) The Brookfield Bunnies created for Fringe World by Perth artist Stormie Mills are appearing all around Perth, this is not the last time you'll see one on the blog..
A couple of quick shots below to show a few of the many entertaining folk walking around the city during Fringe. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe...p.s. took some unexpected non Fringe related shots yesterday, show you next week...

Books and stories..
An outdoor library.. of course! There in the Pleasure Garden for all to enjoy. I took these around 5.10 and wished I could have hung around for the storytelling at 5.30, being a Fringe World activity I'm sure the stories would unfold with an 'imaginative' flair, especially the 8.30 adult tales :) I will get back and find out but as usual I had to be 'somewhere' pronto! Yesterday I was nowhere! Now and then the combination of late nights/early mornings catches up and the sleep deficit hits like a sledge-hammer, that was me yesterday.. 'stunned mullet' comes to mind :) Off to bed early last night, catch-up today.. here's to a happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Lock in the LOVE..
There are so many exciting things going on in Perth right now with the Fringe World Festival and the Perth Festival (check it out),both in full swing. I zipped into the city yesterday to see what was happening in the 'Pleasure Garden' but got side-tracked along the way. The Lock in the Love installation sitting two and a half metres high on Murray St. isn't your usual 'love-lock' situation.. more a foil for writing messages of good luck, good health, perhaps remembering a loved one past.. the $10 raised from each lock sold going to the Heart Foundation. It's going to be a GIANT weekend, literally, coming up.. looking forward to much ribald, risque burlesque and sharing it with you :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...

The Guardian of Highgate..
Fabulous street art is around every corner in Mt. Lawley / Highgate, inner city suburbs of Perth.. with more added each year during the Beaufort Street Festival. The Guardian of Highgate by Perth artist Drew Straker is without doubt one of the most eye-catching, even more so with the addition of a 'cobblestone meets disco ball' pattern on the laneway pavement. This commissioned piece is on the wall of St. Michael 6003 Restaurant on Beaufort Street. I hope you had or are still having a quieter weekend than I :). Happy Monday, take care and stay safe...p.s. if you follow the Australian political scene.. interesting day for us today!

Summer sizzler..
A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing,
the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. ~James Dent
I have a feeling that Mr. Dent may not have been referring to an Australian summer with his words above :) Although we could be lucky, as we were yesterday, the sea breeze came in early and saved us from a 37C scorcher.. with a forecast of 40C for today, we can only hope! As for the luscious, sizzling hibiscus, the hotter the better! Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe...
