Sex & Subiaco.....!

Whether you were a fan of Sex & the City or not, it would be hard to pass up the chance to see the actual Vivienne Westwood designed wedding dress that  Carrie (SJP) wore when she finally nabbed her Mr. Big :) To celebrate 'diamond' week Linneys in Subiaco have the dress, shoes and ring on display for the next week, as well as the opportunity to win your very own 5.41ct black diamond ring. Of course Aimee and I entered, not because I have a fondness for diamonds, think of the lenses I could buy with the money. However many women do and there was much more oooing and aaahing over the ring than the dress, I had to squeeze in and take this shot below 'très vite'! So were you a fan? I have to confess I did enjoy the quick and often hilarious dialogue, not so much the movies though.. Another week begins, thanks so much for all the good wishes re my aching back :) it's definitely on the mend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe.....

Happy 'Sundae'.....!

What do you do when you feel grumpy and sore
I like to eat a little bit more
Not the good stuff like salad and fruit
More like chocolate...
and snow ice to boot.....:)
It did seem a little conflicting having a Coke Zero in the same frame as two of the most enormous sundaes ever, but cut backs in calorie intake have to made somewhere :) I do hope your weekend is less 'ouchy' than mine, will try and catch up today. Take care.....

'Flour' power.....!

Looking through the ornate wrought iron gates on Essex Street in Fremantle, open French doors beckoning at the end of the paved walkway lined with terracotta pots, limestone walls, charming balconies and fountain 'splishing' in the courtyard..get the picture :) was like gazing into a picturesque Tuscany vista. Built back in 1862 as a flour mill Port Mill Bed & Breakfast has an interesting history, these days it offers four charming rooms all with balconies, take a tour (check it out, tres joli!) perfect for visitors to Freo.. Looks like Perth is experiencing an Indian summer with temperatures rising back up to 35C next week, soooo over it! Hope you have a fab weekend, take care.....

Looking through a new lens....

It's a little frustrating when you have a new toy and can't play with it! On Saturday I upgraded and bought myself an OM-D Olympus with a 12 - 50mm lens, it's a little beauty, so many 'in camera' features (below)! Don't get me wrong I still love my Pentax and the Lumix has been brilliant, I won't desert them, but like moi, they're getting on a bit :) I'm sure you'll recognize the Lantana growing profusely over the wall above, although considered a Class 3 toxic weed in many parts of the world including Australia, it is ideally suited to dry and extremely hot weather conditions making it a fantastic filler in gardens as long as it's kept well under control. It also shelters several native marsupial species from predators and offers a habitat for the vulnerable Exoneura native bee, which nests in the hollow stems of the plant. I think if I can bend :) I may plant one this weekend. CUBIFA (can you believe it's Friday again) hope it's a good one, take care and stay safe.....

It's all blue.....!

Unable to drive too far with my 'dodgy' back problem, how lucky am I that just five minutes (three if the lights are green, or a fifteen minute brisk walk) away I have all the delights of Sorrento Quay. Back in the 1930's the suburb of Sorrento being popular with fishermen was largely made up of boat sheds and  fisherman's shacks, things have changed a lot since then, development stepping up in the 1950's nowadays Sorrento is quite the 'prestigious address', not mine unfortunately.. no seriously I'm happy being one suburb back from the beach, close but without the risk of danger from future global warming issues or Tsunami's :) Above one of the Rottnest Fast Ferries coming in to dock, I am definitely doing a 'whale watching' trip this year. The vessel below had me puzzled, a 'caraboat'? Marina's are the best for watery reflections, I took all of these shots yesterday, it was a sunny 33C, come on put Perth on your 'bucket list' for next year, you know you want to! Have a good Thursday, take care.....

Blackbird.. or.. 'Too much frolicking'.....!

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Listen if you dare :) Taken along the West Coast road. I think I may have cavorted with a little too much abandon at the Easter picnic resulting in a pinched nerve in my back, PAIN! One visit down to the physio and one to go, back to normal (?) soon. Happy Wednesday, take care..much more than I did :) and stay safe.....

Pedestrian's crossing.....!

Firstly I hope that you had, or are having a fab Easter break..secondly I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to rustle up an image for this month's theme 'pedestrian crossing' or as Julie pointed out, an interpretation thereof.. When my brilliant (read slightly bonkers) family heard of my predicament at the Easter picnic yesterday, they rallied to my rescue :) forming a somewhat haphazard and 'ever so slightly' comical queue and marched 'across' the park oval. Technically it's not such a great shot, blooming sun was just too bright (!) but the content did make me smile! Happy holiday Monday, catch up today, take care and stay safe...
