Spanner in the works..

Plus a bicycle chain, a sprocket or two dozen, ball bearings and is that a.. chain saw? Pull the pic in and see how many pieces you can identify :)  From farming to working in construction to constructing art from scrap metal.. what an amazingly diverse journey for artist and sculptor Martin Jaine. We must have unknowingly been so close to his studio in Bassendean yesterday, if only I had realized at the time. An amazing sight.. more a piece of art to admire than a comfy bench to sit on :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

  7. Oh yes, that is very creative indeed. You could spend a long time examining it and finding all kinds of mechanical things.

  9. I wonder if Marcel Duchamp and Pablo Picasso were really the first to use "found objects"in art works. That bench is a great example of the trend they set (assuming they did)

  13. Gee, amazing just begins to cover it. I'd want a bench across from it just to sit down and take it in.

  19. Just a sort of work that appeals on so many wonderful levels! One recalls delightful bits and pieces picked up from the gutter and kept lovingly for years on a desk. Imagine taking it to this level!
