It's all in the way you see it!

I took this shot in Kings Square in the city about a month ago. When I looked it last night I noticed a few things. Although the window cleaner is giving me the thumbs up he doesn't look too happy about it.. the lad coming around the corner is surprised to see me there, the security guard in the background wants to but doesn't have the energy to come over and tell me that I shouldn't be taking pics here and if you look closely you will see the first buds of spring coming out on the tree. Meanwhile the person in the pink jacket is oblivious to the drama unfolding around him/her :) If you are desperate enough look hard enough you can find a story in every image oui! Thumbs up it's Friday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. If I made you smile my work is done :)

  1. ...everything has a story to tell. The security guard didn't want you to take a picture in a public place, what's that all about?

  2. Hmmm, it's the outside of a building, and unless that building is intelligence or public security related, that's fair game for photography to me.

  3. Publicly visible is photo-able here in the us, including police activity.

I LOVE this novel in 1 shot, Grace!

  4. You're right about the stories. But I think you got some details wrong about this one. The guy giving you the thumbs up is really taking aim with a hidden camera; I don't see a security guard which means he's really good; the guy coming round the corner is really an intelligence officer checking you out and will note this in your government file. And the pink-jacketed person is pretending not to see you but has a new device that is zooming in on your mind and knows exactly what you're thinking. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but you might want to go home, shut and lock your doors, turn off all electronics, and have a bowl of cereal. Then take a nap. Then get up, go back outside and try again. Heh, heh.

  6. Photos in public places are frowned upon in many places in this age of terrorism. In some places they will confiscate cameras. Glad yours was OK.

  8. I don't like being photographed in public but there is nothing you can do about it as long as you are in a public space. The police judge private property such as a shopping centre or a service station forecourt as public space, so the meaning of public space is very wide. It is a good idea for people who take photos in public to print out the appropriate laws for where they live to show guards etc who may challenge them.

  13. I worked in highrises in San Francisco where we would occasionally have window washers work their way up and down our windows. I can't imagine going to work up the side of a building attached by cables. (And do click on! There are so many stories waiting to be told...)

  15. Grace, this is a fine street action shot with lots going on. Every time I see one of these window washers I am glad I do not have to do this.

  19. I think I should get out and take more photos with people in them, because it makes the composition more interesting, but I tend to look for views that are people-free! Just don't want to make anyone angry I suppose.
