Crown and ‘De Parel Van Vuren’..

Yesterdays views were looking out over the Swan river to the city in Burswood Park and today looking in towards the Crown resort and casino. Is it just me or do you think the design of the casino, centre below, looks a little like the bow of a cruise ship? I had spotted the ginormous 'De Parel Van Vuren' (The Pearl of Fire) Perth's very own Spiegeltent from city side and wanted to have a closer look. I wasn't expecting...

... to see Shrek peering over the fence at me but maybe I should have been as he is one of the central characters in Lights by Dreamworks, showing here from 23rd June to 23rd July.. just in time for the school holidays! I don't remember school hols being quite so razzamatazz, but then again my school days were a really long time ago :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

  2. The building does look like a cruise ship, especially with the large windows at the top that looks like a ship's bridge. No, I would not have expected Shrek either, but that inflatable is fun to see.

  3. What a cool post. And yes, that casino looks very much like a cruise ship. Not a Tom Cruise ship, but still...

And Shrek peering over the fence. Too funny. You have so many fun places and things in Perth.

  15. It's not you -- that's definitely a ship's bow! Gosh...I went to school a really long time ago too and I just remember being happy to be out of class and playing outside. No need for other entertainment.

  16. Yes, it so looks like a cruise ship. Funny thing, though, is that that design is more appropriate on land than on a ship in the water where it's w-a-y too top heavy.

  21. Yes Marleen is right, Spiegeltent is dutch for Mirror tent. We have them here at some festivals with a performance in it. Love that funny face over the fence looking at you.

  22. Definitively a cruise ship, Grace! Are there mirrors inside the Spiegeltent?

  23. Definitely a ship. There is an expensive hotel on the harbor in Vancouver that looks very similar. I wonder if they are related.
