Yesterday we took visiting German bloggers Iris and Ingo along to Beaufort Street Mt. Lawley on a bit of a mural hunt. It's possible that Mt. Lawley, an older inner city suburb, may have more street art per square inch than any other suburb in Perth.. and then there's the art deco buildings to swoon over!
Being an older suburb with above ground power lines, heavy pruning back of these wonderful old trees is necessary..
Found so many murals that I've been wanting to snap, but will save them for Monday.. couldn't resist showing you this beauty by Paul Deej in Grosvener Lane, brilliant the way he's incorporated the tree behind into the work don't you think...
Iris and Ingo with Dogman and Rabbitgirl, a sculpture by Gillie and Marc. Check out Iris' tee-shirt, 'HEAPS GOOD' Western Australia, Perth.. must be true if it's on a tee-shirt right :)
Rounding off the morning with lunch in The Flying Scotsman och aye! Was an excellent way to end a successful morning. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...
The art deco style really draws my eye, Grace, and quite a mural in such a setting.
ReplyDeleteDogman and Rabbitgirl are looking as... dignified as ever!

ReplyDeleteThe second building reminds me of the shape and style of the riverboats that went up and down the Mississippi River many years ago. The neighborhood has a remarkable individuality.

ReplyDeleteI thought most of the awesome murals and public art was around downtown Perth. Now that I see it is even in the suburbs, now I think your city is even more amazing. I've got to get there...
