Fintan Magee.. The Migration.

Driving through Leederville last week I saw Australian artist Fintan Magee at work on the above mural sponsored by the City of Vincent for the Light Up Leederville Carnival this past Sunday.. you might recognize some of his other work here in your city. I didn't have time to stop then but knew I'd be back to see the finished work. To be honest I'm not sure if my photos do it justice. On the wall of Luna Palace Cinema the enormity and complexity of the 30 x 15m piece is stunning!

The motivation is 'about movement and immigration."Perth is a new city and it seems that every third person I meet is English or Irish or has some kind of accent. But I like people to draw their own meanings too," he said.. I'm gushing a bit I know :) but this is seriously good stuff, merci beaucoup Mr. Magee! Hope your week is off to a good start, take care and stay safe..

  6. I can tell that it's very large and those people are carrying huge loads. It makes my back hurt to think about it. Impressive work!

  7. This is wonderful, Grace! Me thinks Mr Magee has a bit of the Irish in him based on his name. ;-)

  8. Hmmmm... I'm not so sure about this one...
On first sight I thought "WOW!"
But on the closeups I saw the dripping blood.
    I'm glad I don't live across that building! :D

    Have a fine week

  11. Very impressive. At times I think it is unfortunate that such high quality work is only of a temporary nature.

  12. Fantastic artwork. Those images look like they could walk off the wall and right into the street. Wouldn't that be fun :).

  15. Very nice mural. It has to be one of the best I've seen.
Perth sounds like where I live: no one is from here. Then our city is only 16 years old. Not only do we have people from every state in the Union, there are many from many different countries.

  17. It's a beautiful mural Grace, I actually saw it on Sunday at the Leederville Christmas Carnival, but it was a bit dark already for a good photo, so I thought I would have to go back to make it justice.
