Third time unlucky?

They say lightning never strikes twice in the same spot.. not true. Last week while walking through Hyde Park in Sydney after a horrendously humid day the heavens opened.. thunder, lightning the works! Lightning struck one of the tall buildings close to the park with such a loud crack that it made everyone shriek, or.. it might have been just me :) The very same thing happened here in Perth on Monday when we were out and about in the city. Three unlucky people felt the caress of an angry mother nature, thankfully they survived to tell the tale! Understandably no-one was game enough to take the boats out along the south shore of the river that morning.. blue skies ever since though! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe.. p.s. next storm we have I'm staying indoors, no point in chancing my luck a third time!

  1. I have always been terrified of lightning. I usually hide under the covers when we get a bad storm!

  3. In your pic, the line of boats is like an echo to the skyline of buildings , very beautiful ! We are having storms here too, with LOT of rain. Time to stay home and enjoy to cocoon!

  5. Love this photo, how the boats echo the skyline. Hate that kind of weather though!

  6. Worst storm I've ever been in was one where I was caught out on the water in a canoe. I still get the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. :-)

  8. I like that photo, I feel just like jennyfreckles about it.
Maybe the buildings and the boats are trying to poke holes into
the sky so this won't happen that bad the next time :))
Wish you good luck on the next storms.

  9. I had a close call with lightning as a kid. For years, I wouldn't even go outside during a storm.

  10. Lighting is not to be ignored or taken lightly. It is deadly. Glad you were only frightened, and not anything worse. Fine, moody photo.

  11. Nice photo. Glad you are not fully attractive to lightning. In most cases if you can hear thunder it is time to head inside.

  14. What a magnificent shot!

I've been close to a lightning burst, but not so close that it hit me indirectly. Just the loudest noise I've ever heard in my life.

  15. Be careful, Grace. I won't go into the details about my own respect for nature's wrath.

    I love that photo!

  17. Well, strange but many people were in danger here too! Stormy weather and many floats. By the way, is Grace your name? Cause I see everybody write it down with capital G.

  18. I wouldn't take a third chance on that either Grace! Quite scary, we weren't affected in our suburb, but in my son's suburb the power went off and the lightning damaged the computer and a couple more things...

  22. It sounds like that was quite a storm. Probably a good idea to stay indoors the next time. Lightening is something to be careful of. I love this photo today. It's very moody!
