Boxing Day Sales..... eh!

This is Karrinyup (derived from the Aboriginal word Careniup meaning 'the place where kangaroos graze'), my preferred shopping centre or mall as they say in the USA! I think it's unlikely that a kangaroo has been seen grazing on this spot for quite some time :) If you note the time on the Watch Works clock it's 10.20am.. on Boxing Day! There was no craziness, no scrambling for bargains, they would still be there after a coffee.. tres civilized oui :) this 'laid back' attitude is one of the reasons I love Perth.. Below one of the many projects I've been busy with over the last two weeks.. remember that big red wall in my new kitchen area crying out for a painting.. I call it 'waterlily reflections'. My son, daughter-in-law.. and 'future' granddaughter :) are here visiting from Sydney, it's been  brilliant spending time with them, I can see many more trips to the east in future years, must learn how to skype! Really looking forward to catching up with all your news over the next few days, in the meantime take care and stay safe.....

  9. I love the painting, Grace! I skipped the Boxing Day sales this year but we have bought TVs, Microwaves, etc, other years and got great bargains. Too crowded though!

  11. I can see the waterlilies kind of similar colors that Monet used in his more realistic view. I can't find any around here to paint, people just don't have them planted. Monet really liked painting them and continued even when he couldn't half see.

  12. Looks a bit like a Monet painting, I like it! The shopping doesn't look too full at that time. I went yesterday (Saturday) to Carousel shopping at around 10am and already had to drive around looking for an empty spot to park and inside there were already far too many people for my liking...

  19. When I see the word Karrinyup I as dutchman read automatically in my head carry it up or pick up as much as you can carry and take it home. Very appropriate for a place like this.

  21. We don't have Boxing Day's here but a never ending Sale. From far before Christmas on it already started and never stops it seems. But with many people having holidays it was very crowdy in the city and the shops yesterday. I like your painting on the wall, is suits very well with the background.

  25. Love the painting. Stunning with the red wall behind. And I can recommend Skype. We have regular video calls from France with our grandkids in the US, and it works great.

  26. Sales after the holidays may have great bargains, but who needs them? The tree is quite lovely.

  28. Your waterlilies are a modern update of the impressionists, rather dynamic and satisfying to my eye.
