Butterflies, benches, bombing & a big Baob tree.....!

It looks like I've gotten carried away with an overload of pics (again) but there's one for each day I'll be away :) As from tomorrow I'll be 'orchestrating' plumber, electrician, tiler and more to work in harmony (wonder if a bit of Vivaldi might keep a calm workplace?) & by the end of the week with a bit of luck I may be cooking in comfort once more, although I've grown surprisingly attached to my one burner hot plate! A few last shots of the Spring Festival in Kings Park. Along with fields of wildflowers, long stretches of lush green lawn and exotic plants from around the world, there were a few new things this year like the decorated E.H. Holden's I showed you here and the 'yarn bombing' below. The story of the journey of the giant Boab tree is quite astounding, but as you can see (last shot) it's doing well and loving it's new home overlooking the Swan River. Don't you love the benches wrapped lovingly around the tree, what a spot to sit and absorb the atmosphere of the park on a spring day, you just know the view will be fab! Take care of yourselves while I'm away, stay safe and I look forward to catching up in a few days....take care!

  1. Wonderful! I just finished a hike and you could tell we are just about 24 hours away from the autumnal equinox. Leaves were falling and there was that ever so slight chill in the morning air.

  15. The wildflowers are terrific, Grace, as are the wavy benches. And moving a huge, 750-year old tree? Amazing. You have to show it when it is in bloom, co we know it is OK.

  20. Wow, Grace, such beautiful pics! Can´t wait to see the Boab (or, as the French say, Baobab, or, as we call it, Affenbrotbaum).
Hmm, I e-mailed Kings Park and asked if we may put our love-lock at DNA-tower - no answer...
What will you cook in your new kitchen for the first time?

  23. The Baobab Tree is among my favourite trees, I just love it! I've seen some truly amazing ones in Africa. Some have been brought here for EXPO 98 but they didn't survive our winter. Beautiful spring shots, Grace.

  25. Dearest Grace,
I do hope you and yours have faired ok in the storms and are safe and well. My friends in M'lands thankfully have only sustained a lot of mess and lost a side fence.
    Thinking of you

  33. Hi Grace. Such glorious photos of Spring. Apologies for my absence of late. Mrs J and I have been travelling. We were lucky enough to get to Marrakech, Malta, Athens and Santorini. Naturally we had our trusty Nikon in hand and we are quite excited to temporarily replace our daily Melbourne post with an image from our trek. Cheers J.

  45. We, the people living in India, are more aware of Sydney and Melbourne, and to a lesser extent about Brisbane and Adelaide. But, we completely forget Perth, probably because it lies in the south west corner of this island country. We are also not aware of any other major cities around Perth or in that part of your country simply because these destinations are not marketed as well as some of other cities located in the eastern part of the country. Your blog about Perth is a welcome discovery in this respect.
I would also like to see the photos of Perth and other nearby cities as well through this platform.
