Skype time!

Any notion of getting out and about yesterday were abandoned when winter raised it's wet, cold and blustery head.. it was a day for keeping warm, relaxing and best of all a long Skype session with Dave, Courtney and precious granddaughter Paxton. I have the idea that if she hears the music from the carousel each time we Skype, when we take it to Sydney with us in October she just might make the association and feel the connection :) For those who were curious as to what I bought at the Up markets last weekend it was the pretty hand made blanket by Pip'n'Pop.. looks like it got the smile seal of approval :) three months old tomorrow and she gets more adorable each day. Curve appeal!

What are the chances in a marina with over 800 pens that you're going to come across a fortuitous pairing twice.. remember the pirate ship moored two down from 'The Bourbon'! Last week I spotted this gorgeous ship shapely 'cougar', check out that curvy derriere, sidling up to her sleek pen mate in 'Anticipation' that he might  'Leeder Astray' :) Oh la! so much sport this weekend, Le Tour de France begins as Wimbledon and the World Cup are winding down.. what are you watching? Pool of Reflection..

Showers for the last few days in Perth makes for some broody atmospheric images up in Kings Park. Looking down past and through the 'Flame of Remembrance and Pool of Reflection' towards the State War Memorial and out over the Swan River (interesting link) Although the photo ops in Kings Park are brilliant in any weather I'm a wee bit partial to winter wet shots :) What do you think.. Anya, Stormie & JAZ in Wolfe Lane..

Back in Wolfe Lane there's still so much to see. Heading down towards Wellington St. and looking very much at home here at the entrance to toni & guy another fabulously vibrant work by Perth artist Anya Brock.. looking back up the lane a 'darker' piece by Perth's Stormie Mills..

... and still further up the lane this work by Argentinian artist Franco Fasoli aka JAZ.. this one was a little tricky with it's dark background.. there are two more JAZ murals around Perth which I'll keep my eyes open for. Pooper troopers!

Is that a scornful smirk I see on the gull perched atop the supposedly bird free lamp post! It's all about position and here it's clearly not working. I can see the thinking, point the spikes out to sea and they won't fly into or onto them, but them there gulls are smarter than they look and come around to land from behind. Eeeew! They really are sh.tty messy critters.. to demonstrate it's disdain it turned and.. well need I say more :)  How does the council in your city keep the bird mess under control? Avalanche Studio.. tophats & monocles!

Yesterday I mentioned that the Perth Upmarkets were an excellent opportunity to find uniquely designed hand made pressies for that special someone or occasion.. add 'bespoke' to that list and you have the quirky collection of 'gentlemen animals' created by Perth freelance graphic designer and illustrator Beth Wilkinson above left. Check out Beth's etsy site and Avalanche Studio to see more of her whimsical woodland creatures. Aimee, a collector of all things fantastical :) has several pieces around her new abode, the 'gentlemen' below are a set of eight drinks coasters, pussy cat with monocle, mustache, top hat and aloof demeanor.. absolutely!

I'm thinking it's about time I invested in a piece of Beth's work myself, maybe something personalized along the lines below but incorporating pastries or chocolate.. or both :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...
