Twilight..

Saturday evening past we went with mon amie française Marie to the Twilight Markets in Maylands. Early mornings and late evenings are the best times to be out and about in this heatwave we are experiencing at the moment.. I think it's called summer :) After the market we had a stroll along the river and it was amazing to see the number of huge trees uprooted in one of the big storms we had last year. I'm guessing erosion caused by the close proximity to the waters edge didn't give the roots a strong enough hold to withstand the strong gusts of wind. Most of the trees had been cleared away but some left for the birds to nest in. Is it just me or is everyone still having probs with blogger, it's a nightly adventure to see whether I win against the beast, it's been touch and go a couple of times but so far I have prevailed, interpretation: so far I've managed to not put my fist through the screen :) Gaaah! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Tree.. what tree?

I was looking for a recent image that might depict the outrageously hot summer we are experiencing this year, the above shot taken around noon last week on a 39C day in Leederville fits the bill perfectly don't you think.. can you feel the heat :) The brightness, the shadows and how the heck that tree is surviving I don't even want to think about! It has been a good few years since we have had a summer this hot right from the get go, I'm pretty much at the stage that if anyone within reach states that climate change is a hoax I might have to respond with something rather rude and you know that's not like moi 😉 Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

In memory of..

Discovered the fantastical mural here when in South Fremantle for a farewell/birthday dinner for our Sydney family last week. Painted by ArtByDestroy in memory of, see top right hand corner. You can see the diverse and extensive range of art by this artist HERE, many of which you would have already seen here :) Hope you had/are still having the best weekend that you can, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

This way or that?

In Fremantle Harbour to have lunch with Aimee this week couldn't resist whipping the lensball out to have some fun with the green lighthouse out on the South Mole. As I mentioned before it's not all that easy handling the lensball on a 35C day, it gets red hot in a flash so it's a quick click at best. Which way would you display this shot, right way up or upside down :)

If you look reeeeally hard in the shot below you can see the red lighthouse out on the North Mole, although you will have to take my word for it that it is red :) Hope you have a good weekend, take care and stay safe..

I'm fierce, really I am :)

Couldn't resist a quick shot of this adorable dog peeking out from the volunteer office of the Mount Flora Museum which is housed in a water tank c1940.  You might remember the last time I was here to take photos of the incredible murals atop the water tank, you can see them HERE, lensball fun :) Unfortunately the museum is still not open but I was told hopefully soon. I believe there is a treasure trove of photos of Perth back in the day, like many of you I love seeing old black and white photos of days gone by. Below a view looking up towards my neck of the woods from atop the tank. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Made it in ten..

Photos that it :) It has been a long time since I've viewed the city from out on the river. We went on a Swan River cruise last weekend to celebrate my SIL's birthday. Can you believe the previous week the skies were super blue with temps in the high 30C's, on the cruise day it was still warm but with cloudy patches, the water choppy at times. The two hour Captain Cook Summer Lunch Time Cruise left from Pier 3, around and under the Elizabeth Quay bridge into the harbour and out again along the river past the Optus Stadium and under the Matagarup Bridge.. all the while enjoying a smorgasbord lunch with chilled wine and fab views.. not too shabby a way to celebrate a birthday :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Heading into 2021..

I'm sad to say that after a lovely long visit my Sydney family have now flown home. It was a miracle that they made it into WA by a matter of hours before the border closed to NSW. We were so happy as we hadn't seen them, apart from Skyping, since last Christmas. The bathroom renovation was finished just in the nick of time.. five adults, two children and one bathroom could be twicky :) The weather was wickedly hot, so much time was spent in the pool. We did take the grandchildren in to explore the new WA Museum Boola Bardip which they enjoyed a lot, each time they come to Perth there is so much more to explore. I did attempt to put up a post last night but my computer fought me all the way plus Picasa seems to have made changes also and to be honest I didn't have the energy to fight it, am I the only person who likes technical things not to change, why 'fix' something it it isn't broke right! Anyway I'm on to it now and normal activities will resume :) Looking forward to catching up and seeing what you have been up to while away.. happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe 💙
