Too many times I've looked at but not stopped to explore the Moon sculpture at Elizabeth Quay in more detail. I hadn't noticed the moon symbol on the sphere and not taken the time to learn its story.. my bad! It is a fascinating piece of Aboriginal folklore if you follow the story below. Meika Place is a 'project to recognize the Whadjuk Noongar People, the first people of this place'. It's the least we can do! Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..
...stopping to check things out is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteA cool sculpture!
ReplyDeleteGrace, I can see that you are right on the ball with this post.
ReplyDeleteInteresting folklore and and a great way to share it.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting story and sculpture. It's one of those places where you really have to take a close look to get an idea of what it represents. I'm glad you did!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine sculpture. I've always enjoyed origin stories from various cultures! And I agree with Marie that the sculpture is a great way to share this particular story. Thanks for your nice comments on Ocala, Grace! But I think you should buy the NSX. Just think how cool you would look tooling around Perth with your camera at the ready!
ReplyDeleteThe story really rounds out the effect of the sculpture!
ReplyDeleteA lot of thought went into this unusual monument.
ReplyDeleteInteresting sculpture!
ReplyDeleteIt often pays to have one extra look.
ReplyDeleteI like this sculpture!
ReplyDeleteReally nice moon sculpture.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very contemporary...and certainly unique against the skyscrapers in the background.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Is it dangerous to swim in the full moon for some reason? Usually their laws make sense, no? Sad story, Grace, and beautiful sculpture, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gracie. You are a perfect guide. And a day with something new to know is a good one
ReplyDeleteA sculpture and nice garden around alone is worth to look at and then that story. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteInteresting history to understand the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteMuito interessante gostei de ver.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.
