What can I say, I just liked it!! When you catch the water at just the right time in the late afternoon the sun literally sparkles on the caps of the waves, irresistible! I asked my sister in law Sue who is a writer, screenwriter and poet to compose a short poem to compliment the image. I was amazed when she sent the words through to me that she had seen something quite different to moi, but if you look at the two famous images taken in the 1930's, The Surgeon's Photo, a grand old hoax regarding the Loch Ness Monster, it's uncanny how similar they are to my two shots (minus the sunbursts as any time I've visited Scotland there has never been any sign of the sun haha!) what do you think, do you see it.....?
Like a summer’s day Nessie in her deepest
loch
with itinerant Hugh Gray's camera watching on
shore,
she bows her head to honour the sparkling
blue
and dances in the sunlight between the
stars.
She is a he whose strong arms plunge out to
sea
powering over and above possible danger
beneath,
relentlessly pulling liquid waves to his chest
-
a celebration of strength, youth and fearlessness.

DeleteYup, maybe Nessie has a cousin in the Antipodes!
ReplyDeleteSweet! This is great Grace. Love the poem and the pictures.
ReplyDeleteFunny post, I am almost convinced...
ReplyDeleteDon't know how many times I've been to Loch Ness, dozens or more, but I've never been lucky enough to see her. That's why: she emigrated!
ReplyDeleteNessie on a southern holiday!
ReplyDeleteAzul de brillo, azul de mar...
ReplyDeleteSaludos y un abrazo.
Well, I'd say you and your sister in law make a great creative team Grace! Well done. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteFunny post, Grace... and brilliant picture!
ReplyDeleteI see a bird swooping amid sea diamonds !! I guess it's like cloud pictures Grace ... We all see something different.
ReplyDeleteThe water looks sparkly.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you were in the right place at the right time with your camera and the poem just tops it all off nicely :-).
ReplyDeleteThat water looks quite refreshing... no wonder he took a dip. haha
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Grace. Keep it up!
ReplyDeletePretty sparkles!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIf Nessie could get out of the loch, it would have a long swim from Inverness to Perth (and I don't mean the one a bit north of Edinburgh). Monsters of the deep? I'll stick with dolphins and whales.
ReplyDeleteThat would be something to see. I like the sparkles too.
ReplyDeletevery pretty capture Grace!
ReplyDeleteShe emigrated! What a smashing capture-

ReplyDeleteYou take the high road and I'll take the low road, and I'll be in Scotland before ye!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. You should consider putting your pics into a book!
ReplyDeleteI hope Nessie will find its way back home when it will finish to explore the world..
ReplyDeleteI like the poem, very charming!
Beautiful photos Mamma and fabulous words Aunty Sue! It's nice to come from such a creative and talented family!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming poem, and lovely photos! I am always captivated by the sun glistening on the water...and Nessie looks quite at home there!
ReplyDeleteisn't it magic when you are given the gift of another's seeing? i wish i'd looked at the image before i'd read the title. i wonder if i would have seen the "monster". i know, in the portal, i was dazzled by the sun diamonds.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Nessie might miss the fog but I'm sure he's enjoying the warmer waters of Australia. :-)
ReplyDeletethat's one strong swimmer there .. fabulous snaps, Gracie, wonderful words Aunty Sue... and Aimee is right .. what a talented family!
ReplyDeleteOn such a bright sunny day, not even a monster would stay lurking in the deep.
ReplyDeleteWell bravos all around the fam for this post. Great shots and the poet equally as talented!
