What's in a name.....
A few of my favorite signs on Market Street in Fremantle.. Firstly, very clever and very Aussie is shock & oar everything nautical that you might need to wear when you set off on the high seas in your yacht....
Or you might like to stay the night and have a wee dram in Rosie O'Grady's Irish Pub, I've heard it has 'great craic' , pronounced 'crack', meaning a fantastic time, which I'm sure I didn't need to clarify!
Princess Chambers is a suite of offices, what a lovely address to have on your business card oui!!
You can tell by the signage that this isn't any old corner store selling fruit and veg. Inside is a haven of gorgeous homewares, beautifully made although just a tad pricey.....and below we have my personal favourite, let's just say Jayne is not the only one addicted to chocolate, a little everyday keeps a smile on my dial.....!! Start the week off well enjoy some chocolate today.....
belle serie d'enseigne, avec une preference pour l'Irish pub ;)
ReplyDeleteVery good Grace...another 'what's in a name' could be the one just in the corner of the chocolate one...LJ Hooker! Have a great week.
ReplyDeletearen't signs the best...nice captures!
ReplyDeleteBBut they misspelled 'Princess Charters" LOL
ReplyDeleteMz Charters says:
Aloha from Waikiki
Comfort Spiral

These are terrific signs and so clever! And the L.J. Hooker is cool, too! I love them! Thanks for the smiles of this gray afternoon!!

Boy, you hit the jackpot with this signage! I like them all, and I'm especially delighted to know where I can shop when I dock my yacht in your town!
ReplyDeleteI love the signs - laughed out loud when I read the first one! And there were a few I would LOVE to visit - like Rosie O'Grady's for a wee bit, and Janyne's Addiction! What fun! Have a great day, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI think I would be visiting Rosie and Jayne too! Nice group of shots Grace.
ReplyDeleteLovely signs Grace.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused about the first sign. Shock, as in defibrillator? That looks like as ECG tracing. And the last one - that's a slightly different spelling of the name cheerless rock band from L.A. Odd.
ReplyDeleteI really like Shock & Oar.
ReplyDeleteA good collection of signs, particularly Shock & Oar.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at your comment yesterday about my hat. Yesterday afternoon before I read the comment I had taken another photo of myself reflecting in a door, wearing another wide brimmed hat, this one straw. Wide brimmed hats make me feel classy, smart and manly.
I'm going with Shock & Oar!
ReplyDeleteMy first stop would be Rosie O'Grady and then the Belgian Chocolates.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for Jaynes Addiction.
ReplyDeleteBonza photos, especially the Jaynes Addiction sign for yummmy chocolates :-).
ReplyDeleteNear here there's a fish'n'chip shop in a street called Eaton Place - the name "Eatin' Plaice"
ReplyDeleteJ'aime beaucoup ces enseignes très "anglo-saxonnes". Claires, propres, nettes. On ne voit pas ça en France. A quelques exceptions près.
ReplyDeleteNice set but how come now I want some chocolate, eh?
ReplyDeletesuch GREAT signs...great captures of each of them, too!
ReplyDelete"Chocolate" and "addiction", that rings a bell in me! :o)
ReplyDeleteI like "Shock & Oar" the best. Very catchy and a name I would remember.
ReplyDeleteA plethora of interesting signs!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful signs, Grace!
ReplyDeleteOh these signs are so creative! I think the Corner Store is my favorite ;D
ReplyDeleteLove them all!
ReplyDeleteI like Shock and Oar! Let's go for a sail.
ReplyDeleteI would walk past he Irish pub and be tempted to stop in the store with Belgian chocolates.
ReplyDeleteKisses from Italy. I like the last one because I'm fond of chocolate, dear Gaia
ReplyDeleteThese are great!
ReplyDeleteIts a fine collection of designs, great work Grace!

ReplyDeleteFantastic signs! I think my favorite is Shock and Oar. What a wonderful play on words. However, I'm now going in search of some chocolate!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vocabulary lesson...I never would have thought 'crack' meant a good time...or maybe it does. Anyway, great sign series, Grace.
ReplyDeleteI always like signs, my obvious favorite is the first one!
ReplyDeletehi Grace,
ReplyDeletea nice reportage... well done, looks really nice, ciao
Lovely signs, great series.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at shock & oar .. brought to mind Bush the Stupid's name for the first attempt to rid the world of Saddam ... Shock & Awe .. which of course ended (but not really) with his arrival on an aircraft carrier with a huge sign: Mission Accomplished (of course it wasnt but then he was Bush the Stupid)
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of signs!
ReplyDeleteYou have a shop with Belgian chocolates, nice :):)!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy friend had a restaurant calld HOT SPOT, the menu is everything hot and spicy !!!!!!
