Slip sliding away down the terrace!

Yesterday morning St. Georges Terrace went from big business to big fun! One side of the road was closed off and beginning at the top end of the terrace across from Barracks Arch young and old went whizzing down the 315 metre long bright yellow slippery slide having loads of fun along the way.. check out the action here (hope the link works this time, let me know). An early Christmas present from Perth City.. for those worried about the water used when restrictions are already in place, it was recycled somehow (?) and used by local councils! Below, looking up the terrace..

Waiting.. if you're wondering why I didn't slip-slide, this could be it :)

My super fav pic of the day.. spunky little super-hero :)

Playing around with effects, the swim tubes look like jumbo coloured polo mints don't you think?

 Thumbs up!

... and as always at big outdoor activities there was sunscreen provided and the brilliant St. John's Ambulance crew were present to attend to any slippery slide emergencies :) Apart from a glitch early in the morning the day was a big success.. 27C perfect! Hope you're having or have had a super weekend, take care and stay safe..

  1. Wow! What a crowd. It must have been a lot of fun. Your pictures are gorgeous, too. And what a lovely day for having so much fun. I agree on your "fave" photo - that's perfect! You didn't want to wait in that line, huh?

Remind me of Paul Simon's song, "Slip-sliding Away" - one of my favorites!

  2. Gorgeous pictures :) - but they do make me shiver by the thought
that somebody would start an event like this over here at this moment :D
Would be more like ice sliding ;) - btw, when I closed my bedroom window
after 2 hours of airing, there were 11 °C in that room.
Must be slightly colder outside :))
    Have a great day

  11. I'd never have the patience let alone the will to do this with what seems like half the population of Perth! It does look like fun though, it's huge! I love your whatsitcalled inverted colours photo!

  19. I see, just enough slope. Did the city provide the tubes? We ought to do that in six months.

  20. I'm sure it was great fun! I would be a bit scared to do it though...Perth is surely turning into a fun city!

  21. Wow, that looks like loads of fun for everyone. We ought to do that here in the summer. My street is a good candidate as it slopes up hill rather nicely.
